Eddie's bottle of wine

Does anyone know what kind of wine Eddie drinks on stage? I think all my friends and I are going to drink some wine before the concert on Wednesday in West Palm. If its something i can afford it would be sweet to drink the same wine as Eddie and stumble around the lawn along with him during the show. hahahah

I read somewhere once that one kind he drinks is called Vina Mara - but how the hell do I know.
He probably buys whatever is on sale.

I know that on Pearl Jam's rider, they asked for a less expensive wine ($15-$20), that was Italian.
I also know that there is a picture floating around here somewhere of a bottle from a wine company in California (I think), that made Pinot Noir for Eddie, if I'm correct on that? Maybe another member can confirm that or something? :)
So basically, Eddie probably drinks a fair amount of different type wines. I say, just go with a good tasting wine, and enjoy the show! :) [yellow tail] Cabernet Sauvignon is one that I like! ...it's from down under!;)

im not sure about what he drinks on tour or on stage, but I have a friend who's boyfriend works at a popular wine retail store in chicago and last year eddie was in there and spent a pretty penny on like 8 bottles of wine. true story.
Further back and forth a wave will break on me, today...

I drank a little over a bottle of Red wine at a wedding this weekend. I thought about drinking it again for the Va Beach show, but after a 12 hours hangover I'm done with wine for a long long time

Don't be surprised if it isn't that good ... they look like the type of place that buys discount grapes from where ever they can get them and makes their wine. Sort of a 2 buck chuck methodology.

With a production of 168 cases and WS score of 91 points ......I think their methodology maybe a tad different from 2 buck chuck!

well, one hit in many is possible ... but, they do buy grapes from many vineyards ... I'm guessing, the leftovers, thus, why some releases are of low quantity.

I've never tried it, so, I can't say if any of these are good or bad. I've had good $10 wine and bad $100 wine ... it's all a matter of personal taste, anyone stating otherwise is wrong. (In other words, don't listen to critics or snobs, like me :D)

You're right, I seem to recall the RS cover article from '06 says he got it from friends at that time. I bet he mixes it up quite a bit.

From "The Ongoing History of New Music":

"Maybe it is the wine. One of the perks of being a rock star is that you get to do and have things that regular people don’t - like wine.
These days, before Pearl Jam goes on tour, Eddie has someone pack him up some cases of some custom-bottled vino from the “Flowers” vineyard and winery in California’s Sonoma Valley. He is apparently partial to their Van der Kamp Pinot Noir with its fruity aroma and a finish that reminds one of cloves.
The bottles have no label. They are simply inscribed in bold with the name of the wine, the bottle number and the words “Eddie with Aloha”. Like I said, it is good to be a rock star."

    Aloha

So, how much do you think a bottle of this stuff sets the "average" (ie: not Eddie) consumer back? Heh..

Siduri is an extremely well respected producer of wines especially their Pinots. They do buy grapes, but only from some of the most well known and respected vineyards in California and Oregon. Any of their Pinots from the Russian River Valley or from the Santa Lucia Highlands are spectacular. I have not had the Van der Kamp Ranch Vineyard but I'm sure it is amazing. Eddie would not drink shitty wine! Retail would be anywhere from $40 to $60 a bottle.

I think this name has less to do with PJ, and more to do with magicians and the original term "sleight of hand", which is a using your hands to conceal something, make it dissappear, etc. in a magic trick.
