I just grabbed tickets for the U2 show at the New Meadowlands Stadium next week. I have never seen them before and I'm sure it will be a good show but was wondering if any of you have seen them and how you may have liked it

  • Regardless what some people think of the band or of Bono in particular... they're fucking amazing.
I saw them last night at the Rogers Centre in Toronto and it was incredible. Let me put this in perspective... I've seen them a half dozen times and this was the best U2 show I've seen. I was in the TOP ROW at the Rogers Centre... TOP ROW.. and they made me feel like I was front and centre. They had a great setlist, great energy, and sounded perfect.

U2 is not my favourite band... far from it. But I'm beginning to wonder why not....

least pj changes up their setlist and doesn't overcharge fans and would never bitch bout their hometown city taxes while living in the middle east.
Ron: I just don't feel like going out tonight
    Sammi: Wanna just break up?

Thanks guys. Ya one of the first things I noticed looking at their setlists is that they don't change it much but I don't mind that too much because as a more casual fan I want to hear the hits. As a big PJ fan I love hearing the rarities but I would probably not even know the more obscure U2 songs. When a song comes on that I do not know it just means that I will have time to go grab a beer

You're right, only invite a little girl who is sick on stage, and dance around with her.

And i think that, because its such an elaborate show, that it would be difficult for them to change the set list, what with the preparation they would need to change all the lighting and stuff they got going on.

I've seen them about a dozen times since 1991. This tour is fantastic but not my favorite (Zoo TV in 1991 was just insane). On this current tour I had the pleasure of sitting in the ridiculously expensive seats right by the stage one night. On a different night, I also had the pleasure of scoring some GA floor tickets at a very fair price ($55 + Ticketbastard fees) and got very close to the outer ring of the catwalk stage on Edge's side. I walked into the stadium about 20 minutes before U2 went on and got about 10 feet away from the outer ring. Those dudes cruised right by us a bunch of times over the course of the show. As much as I liked both sets of tickets, man those GA floor seats are sick......and for the price you can't beat it. There is a price point for everyone and, ironically, the best seats in the house, in my opinion, are the cheapest (GA Floor) if you can get them.

For a stadium show, it's amazing at how they can make the place feel intimate. The sound, is fucking off the charts. Stadium shows are notorious for sounding flat and hollow.....not this show. Whatever soundsystem they use is state of the art and it sounds killer.

Yeah, I'd rather see U2 in an arena or someplace smaller but the band goes out of it's way to make just about every seat in the stadium decent.

I've seen U2 a bunch of times and my only gripe is the setlist. They just don't change the setlist up very much. A lot of it has to do with the production and the visuals......I mean, it's a show. The setlist gets pretty predictable over the course of the tour which is why I usually only hit their shows once or twice each tour.

However, you have never seen them before so you are in for a real treat. Have fun. It's a fucking rock show and the stage and visuals are unreal. Enjoy!

Amazing! Awesome! It really doesn't cost much to do something wonderful, does it?

I personally don't like Bono that much, I am not a fan of U2. But I can put that aside and go

    Thanks for the video Gary.

Btw, I saw them live back in 98 during the Popmart tour. It was a great concert.
    In love with music

was also at the rogers centre last night. show was amazing. i haven't missed a u2 concert since 1984 at massey hall. great set list and his voice was in great form. i have seen some stinkers with this band but last night was the best show since the elevation tour. a lot of coverage to the achtung baby album. a show not to be missed.

I've seen u2 maybe 12 times since 1997 (was that the pop tour)? u2 is AMAZING live. all songs are perfect and they sound fantastic. are they a band that would play like a "dirty frank" on the spot like pj? no. but they are awesome to see once a tour. you won't be disappointed! i'll be seeing them in philly thursday nite and nj next week. totally different than pj but the vibe is cool and the fans are chill.
I'll ride the wave where it takes me......

I still need to see them. The Slane Castle DVD made me a huge fan; probably best concert DVD I've ever seen and you can feel the energy of the band by watching the DVD.

To the OP, enjoy the show. I'm sure you'll have a blast at the show.

Also, to people complaining about their set lists. Their set lists never really changed each tour. Bono said they were a band before they could even play their instruments.

Ya the Slane Castle DVD really made me want to see them even more too. CC, I am also in one of the last few rows so I hope you are right. I'm sure you are. I just want to be in there. They have been around for so long so who knows how many more chances there will be to see them
  • Little back story on that video. The blind guy has a degenerative eye disease and began loosing his sight as a teenager. He's been to a ton of shows, and is a huge fan. At this show had a sign that said "blind guitar player." All I Want Is You is he and his wives song.

Also, I'm not a huge fan of U2's albums post Joshua Tree, but I've been to about 30 shows since '09. If you are a moderate U2 fan you will certainly enjoy their show. The whole spectacle of their stage and sound system is well worth the ticket price.

Also, Mike McCready was at the Anaheim show this summer. He seemed to enjoy himself.
