I was thinking that PJ has a lot of songs about death suicide and all that stuff... These ones I recall:

long road
jeremy
alive
sad
come back
yellowledbetter
deep (I gess)
once
immortality
ligth years
rival
slegth of hand
other side
footsteps
last kiss
4-20-02
dead man
leather man
man of the hour (I gess)
state of love and trust (I gess)

some of those songs could be interpreted another way not simply just death

Come Back is another one that clearly is about death
I just don't trust anything that bleeds for five days and doesn't die.

There's a difference between a song about "DEATH" and a song like Leatherman which is about a..."Dead Guy"

    It's spelled "guess"
And deep isn't about death really.

Add Garden to the list. Ed said in one of the Boston shows in 06 that garden was written about a military cemetary.

Wikipedia (as much as it can be trusted), pointed to the article below about Sad originally being called "Letter to the Dead."

    last exit

There's no time for me to address the other songs mentioned within this thread, but I assure you that LAST EXIT is not about death. I see how it could be interpreted that way, but truth be told it is about something different. I'd bet a mushroom and cheese pizza and a bottle of wine on it. ;)

I'd like to be convinced that it's not...

You left out Life Wasted. Ed has been quoted to say that this is about driving home from a friends funeral, or maybe just a funeral in general.

Arc...a tribute to the nine that died at the Rokslide incident ( I probably spelled that wrong)

Bee Girl, the girl in the song is terminally ill...

    Army Reserve (maybe?)

I guess you could consider Low Light about death, becuase a lot of people believe that it's about a fatal car crash...

I just read the lyrics, and the only other interpretation I can make on it is that it's about somebody coming out of their shell??

Interesting...I've never thought of it that way. I guess I just had this paradigm that it was about dying. Thanks for opening my eyes :)

I still like to tihnk of it about dying though ;) lol

  • Why haven't anyone mentioned Present Tense yet? Isnt it partly about death?

That song is about the Bee Girl from Blind Melon's "No Rain" music video, who I'm pretty certain has never been terminally ill.

i think life wasted is more about, well, life than anything else. eddie said he came up with the song while driving home from johnny ramone's funeral - it's not about driving home from a funeral.
