Difference being us "invaders" have long established the new way of life in our respective countries where we reside, now these Islamists want us to change how we have lived for a long time.

If a Muslim banker wants to give Muslim people interest free mortgages, isn't that okay? Seems to me it doesn't need to be enshrined into law.

this would be the same thing as if the domino's pizza founder wanted to give christians discounted pizza. i don't see a problem with it. some view it as preferential treatment while others may view it as "looking out for your own"..

if the muslim banker runs the bank, can't he set his own interest rates?

The article's title is misleading. First of all, Muslims aren't looking to go OUTSIDE of the already established law of the land. They just want to add certain legal procedures that would not necessarily contradict the law as it is:
1. Family law: which would include things like inheritance, divorce, marriage, etc. This is just strictly between the family and as long as no one is getting treated ridiculously unjustly and all parties involved are in agreement to these laws, then it really should be none of anyone's business.
2. Islamic banking actually is getting a lot of interest in non-Muslim countries. There is actually a system in place, it's not just loans without interest, that ensures the bankers get their money back, with profit, and that the loanee is not abused by insane interest rates. considering that a large role in the latest economic collapse was played by such loans, many corporations are interested in Islamic banking. I would be against it applying to ONLY Muslims though - I think that's discrimination. If people opened Islamic banks in Australia, it should be open to everyone.

I mean give it to everyone at that rate type deal. If a Muslim wants to bank based on those laws for everyone, he or she should be able to!
