Songs that I cant understand

Since english is not my first language there are a few songs that I dont understand the meaning and decipher what is about,

hope you can help:

deep
leash
not for you
aye davanita (just kidding)
hail, hail
who you are
pilate
no way
low ligth
yellow led better
i got ID
severed hand
parachutes
get rigth
gods dice

    im trying:
    deep- about heroin usage? thats my guess
    leash- about being a teen and uniting with the other depressed and pissed off teens
    not for you- pretty sure its about eddie getting angry at the media at the time, telling them to fuck off

    hail, hail- about a bad relationship making a turn for tthe worse
    who you are- a confusing one.. could be about tons of things- you decide for yourself ;)
    pilate- Jeff Ament read Mikhail Bulgakov's book "The Master and Margarita." includes a dog named Pilate, never read the book so I still don't know the story behind this one.
    no way- i think its like a cry for change in "ill stop trying to make a difference, no way" as in, "fuck you im gonna try to change things and make things better" not really sure though
    low ligth- to me about a peacceful death and maybe their last thoughts?
    yellow ledbetter- oof. heard the story at 8-7-08 NJPAC. maybe another night I'll gather myself to remember it. something about how an alternative looking kid's brother died in a war when papa bush was in office. he was trying to walk it off and saw a couiple on a porch with an american flag, and he waved to them as to say "my brother died for that flag", but they didnt understand and looked at him like scum.
    i got ID- about being lonely and depressed/sad
    severed hand- eddie tripping on lsd i think
    parachutes- either anti war or about love. one or the other haha.
    get rigth- haha i think its about sex, not really too sure though
    gods dice- "god doesnt play dice with the universe"- einstein. I think it's about how it's just by luck or chance that you turn out the way you do

    Ya, cool - I agree with most of those, although I think Parachutes is certainly about a lasting love...

    But I'm most stoked about your interpretation of 'No Way' - I remember when Yield came out, reading TONS of reviews that said things along the lines of '...and Pearl Jam have finally decided to take themselves less seriously and just go out and have fun, even writing a song about how they don't want to make a difference anymore...' (paraphrasing obviously)

    That would grate on me every time I'd listen to the song - because it's certainly along the lines of 'No way am I going to stop trying to make a difference...'

    remember though that this was just one fans thoughts on the songs. some to be taken literally and others for whatever personal interpretation the listener attaches to a song

    parachutes is confusing for me :)
    and I don't understand why people would think a song called "NO WAY" would be about not trying to make a difference. Those people need to listen to the lyrics. haha

    Im sorry, but.. if you can't understand I got id.. theres really no point in trying to explain it to you :D but here is my opinion in a nutshell


    deep - Various situations of wrong doing/conflict
    leash - emancipating, DROP THE LEASH YO!
    not for you- This song i consider a big F you, to all the people (including fans) that were causing pj strife in the early days.
    hail, hail - R-E-L-A-T-I-O-N-S-H-I-P-S gone bad
    who you are - DUH! Who, are you?
    pilate- its about a dog, brainy "like pilate, i have a dog"
    no way- again, a very self explanatory song
    low light - Love Song, fo sho..
    yellow led better- Your guess is as good as anyones
    i got ID - feeling inferior, feeling overwhelmed, unrequited love
    severed hand- GETTIN HIGH MUTHA frs (drug use)
    parachutes- Yeah this one im not so sure about either really
    get right- GETTIN HIGH MOTHA FRS!
    gods dice - religious confusion


    btw, if u dont understand ed's lyrics (considering english isnt your first language), how can u understand us explaining them? just out of curiosity
