my niece writes poetry. she wants to post her poetry online. i suggested pearl jam as the site beings it is the bomb-diggity for poets.

a ghost

as you quiver
you stand in front of the ghost that
haunts you. you don't know what to do but stand
there ice cold. you say leave me alone.
he doesn't leave. he picks you up and
throws you. you feel nauseated. you see
a black figure. you walk in the other
room lamp turns on and off you reach
for the phone but it slams against
the wall and shatters a knife comes
up and stabs you in the chest.
as the pain gains. you die and cri.
you hear an evil laughe as you bleed
to death.

the end

i asked their father, why the horror type writing? that's what movies they like, he replied.
so that's the answer. the kids watch scary movies and whatnot.

we study the dictionary and thesaurus together, im good for a few dictionaries and stuff. every kid i know wants to write poetry or stories with me. it is inspiring, warm, and frickin amazing. makes me happy that im not some toothless dumbasshole who can't frickin spell his own fucking name much less inspire a kid to write.

i love my family. these kids slay me. they're competing to be famous writers. i tell 'em... learn to spell the god damn words correctly, and no, you're not getting a prize just because you posted poetry on pearl jam's site. the girl, she thought she was getting an award in the mail :|

You have some talent running through your family Lord Chadwick!

Me, I miss the poems of the Uncle the most. Wish I could read more of his on a regular basis.

I think I like all the Krueger poets though

My daughters poem for a 7th grade project.

    fields full of cheerful yellow
    with long, willowy stems
    dancing in the summer breeze
    flimsy, carefree petals
that float gently to the ground
leaving a trail of color upon the flower bed
    and beautifully scenting the air

    reaching to the indigo sky
as birds soar high above them
    clouds swirl in the air
sending shapes on the soft golden field
    while the setting sun
    casts a darkening silhouette
    on the quite meadow...

This is from my 10 yr old son- he wrote this poem this morning .... I think I got him upset ;)

    I Hate Writing- Yuck

I am always forced to write
my mom says its good for me
I don't understand, it makes my hand hurt
I never liked writing and I never will

Why do I keep writing I just can't stop
    I'll run out of words
    my vocab isn't so great
    neither is my punctuation

    My handwriting is the worst
I'm running out of room to write
I hope its not too late to stop
I'll see you on the right hand side

Remember who ever is reading this
    I hate writing !!!

poor Bradley's hand hurts from writing. this little piece made me chuckle a bit. and thank you for reviving this thread. for 10 months or whatever it has been hush-hush with the kids poetry thread. not no more it isn't.

wishin i was a kid myself; i'd fill it up some....

and thank you, Brad, for your hardwork @ creative writing with the painful writing hand and all.

From my son - written last night.

I feel fire inside my heart it has been lit by the gods above
spirits that fight the evil souls within
hearts that beat faster and faster racing to the finish line
like a pin drop falling but will never reach the ground

people can say, people can do hurtful things that's not worth doing
you can cry, you can scream, you can try to stop
but you can't hide the feelings

    make mistakes no ones perfect
running in place is the fastest type of travel
ending an emotion and passion in my heart
    not letting go of yesterday
