Do you guys just use chia in your drinks? I found a recipe for cookies that uses soaked chia seeds in place of eggs and wondered if any of you had tried that before?
sometimes i put chia seeds in my foods but mostly just in my liquids and right out of the jar or sack into my mouth

sometimes allowing the seeds to hydrate in my mouth before swallowing them

i even put the seeds in my water bottle so i can have chia seeds all day

yes please try the cookie recipe and tell us how it went
perhaps take step by step pictures of your project

    good luck w/ the yummers

I forgot to mention that last Sunday in the leisure section of the paper was a whole huge article on these seeds. I have a chia pet that I got as a xmas gift about 2 years ago and still haven't done it. I wonder if I could eat them.
  • read the beginning of this and saw chia in the store today so i picked some up. just had a bowl of slime but it doesnt taste too bad

I prefer my chia seeds with food - such as oatmeal at breakfast time. No Slime... ;)

Chia seeds get "gel like" in liquid - but you can add them to fruit smoothies and not taste them at all.

    I hope this helps. :D

I saw chia seeds premixed in drinks at Whole Foods today. Wonder how slimy THAT would be :)
Are we getting something out of this all-encompassing trip?

Seems my preconceptions are what should have been burned...

so far I think I like them best in iced tea...they get just a little slimy in there. I've tried them in naked drinks too( which i love), but because those drinks are already thick...when you add the chia seeds, it gets almost sludgy if you don't drink it fast enough... :?

Every time this thread comes up I think of that little commercial ditty, "Chi-chi-chi-chia!"

Agreed. Great overnight oatmeal recipe here:

    Green Oats
    Yield: 1 serving
    Ingredients:
1 large handful fresh spinach or small handful of kale
    1 large ripe banana
1.5 tbsp chia seeds (necessary for thickening)
    1 cup almond milk
    1/3 cup regular, rolled oats

    1. In a blender, blend together the spinach, banana, chia seeds, and almond milk until smooth.
    2. In a cereal bowl, add the oats and then pour the smoothie on top. Stir well until combined.
    3. Place in fridge (uncovered is fine) overnight. Give it a good stir in the morning and then enjoy it cold, straight from the fridge. Add desired toppings as you wish such as nut butter, granola, coconut, fruit, etc.

I love my chia seeds as well, ( with my food ) I just sprinkled some seeds on top of my cheese burger tonight and the wonderful thing about chia seeds is that you do not taste them but they have so much nutritional value.

Don't waste your chia seeds cramming them up someones keester.
