Lullaby Betterman...not better?

Judging from the comments I have read about this, I don't expect many to agree with me here but does ANYONE else prefer the original Betterman over Ed's lullaby version?

I don't think the lullaby version is terrible, but its hard for me to get into. Though its (extremely) far from being anywhere near my life of favorites, I still like the original better.

Anyone else???
Makes much more sense...

I believe is just an awesome version, t doesn't have to compete with the original, not better than the original not worst than the original, just a different take :)

not really a fan of the lullaby version... in fact i think the original is played out a bit imho

although the version from montreal 05, when ed tagged it w/ "i wanna be your boyfriend" by the ramones, was just awesome
it's largely due to eddie that i liked to jump off of things as a child...

Totally like the original better! Bigger voice, more dynamic.

I enjoyed the 'lullaby' version, but prefer the original if someone's asking me which of the two I like better. But variety is good.

agreed--i feel the same way. Not a huge fan of the song to begin with-I'm just indifferent towards it to start with. I don't get excited to hear it and thats probably because it has been played so many times. (then again, I've played some songs a million times and never get indifferent towards them :D )

    Montreal 05--yes!!Agreed!!! :D

I love lullaby Betterman! Can't say which one I prefer more, but I always enjoy hearing the lullaby version.

I like the original better too . Maybe Ed was kinda over singing this song in the original way and wanted to mix things up and make it fresh again for himself??
I think us folk get used to hearing a song sung and performed in a particular fashion that it's alien hearing it any other way.
I guess it's not so much of a dramatic change when it's simply a case of swapping an electric guitar to ukulele like 'Can't Keep' but when we hear a very recognisable and popular song actually sung in a completely different melody it's 'big' change and hard to adhere to like we did the original.
Sorry for crapping on, interesting thread Kelly! :D

Not a fan of the lullaby version. It seems to me to start off without a real tune to it. It gets better when he gets to the chorus but much prefer the original.

I really like it, it's a nice way to change it up. The full band version from Bridge School last year was awesome imo

I think this is probably the best way for me to describe what I am hearing too. It seems very scattered. I wasn't sure if I felt that way just because I am used to the regular version, so it's good to know others are getting the same thing as me.

I had such high expectations for this since everyone seems to be going mad over it on the boards...i guess not really being in love with the original to begin with doesn't help :D

that being said-- I LOVE the original LUKIN, and what is being referred to as Lukin 3 that I heard at Chicago 2 with the strings is amazing!!!

Original has to be better. Such a huge hit. I like the lullaby version a lot, but the original is too awesome (we've just heard it a lot).
