Least of all we touched the sun
We held each other till the end
Searching for that diamond in the sand
Crashing waves and love that fell right thru our hands.

But now I know the price of love
And diamonds in the sand
Now I know the distance from the sun
Now I understand.

I know at night when I close my eyes
I see the valley of the sun
I see the shadows of a life that have no place to run
Close your eyes and touch me.

Least of all we touched the sun
And never looked away
We walked the miles and cast a shadow
Over diamonds in the sand.

I could have been your superman
And calmed the crashing tides
But it fell right thru our hands
Like diamonds in the sand.

Now I understand.
