    I don't think there is an invite system yet, it's still in closed beta. I'm curious to check it out, but Google has a pretty terrible track record of social sites at this point. And regardless even if it is a million times better than Facebook, at this point people are going to make the switch.

    Add my name to the list of wanted invites once it does get to that point though. I'm usually pretty quick to get into these kind of things though, so if I get in soon than later I'll let the OP know.

    from what I've read there was an invite system but they've already filled up

    just based on what I saw in the tour, it's not going to immediately replace fb... I'm just curious what all the fuss is about... there's no way i can juggle another social networking site on top of fb, twitter, my website, and this

    and obviously if I'm the only one of my friends that can get in then its not really worthwhile

    Will do. I always like to check this kind of stuff out. I was pretty excited when I got into Google Wave then I handed out a few invites to my friends and they just didn't care about it so that made it pretty pointless for me, just like you said.
