10 Club Membership Problem - Need Advice

I look at my number 164xxx(and I've been a member since '92) and I think my number has an extra digit on the end. I never thought about it before until I looked at the join dates on the touringfans.net site. My number is a number corresponding with a member who joined in '96 or '97. In fact my cousin has the same problem. He is a 147xxx and joined a few months before me. We both have every Xmas record since the '92(the one with the dead deer in the road on it). If you take that digit off the end, my number then looks like it would be in the proper range. Let me know if you have ever had this problem.

I know a lot of you are probably thinking why is he complaining about a 164xxx number, but it does seem like it might have been a mistake. Any opinions or advice?

It certainly looks high for a '92 join, but it's hard to say and you should contact 10C to see what's what. That said, I am now a 325XXX because I let my membership lapse, but I originally joined in 93 and I had a 124XXX. So your number isn't out of the realm of possibility. But only the 10C can tell you for sure. And they person you are comparing to may actually have joined in 97, but I know that I have absolutely no idea when i rejoined and just pumped in a guess for that part in Touring Fans. Maybe that's all they did as well.

    ask them
possible that you let it lapse in there somewhere?
Do you have any of the old mailings with a different number on them?

I know its a great number, but I joined in 1992 and have a number thats worse than people who joined in 1996. Just imagine if you had a 260xxx but the numbers the other people who joined at around the same time had 26xxx numbers. It's a huge difference.

Ever since my first record. I never had another number. It was always on those cardboard mailers. we had to cut out the card and write our # on there so we didn't forget it. I'm not the only one either, my cousin has a 147xxx number and joined in '92 also. It's weird that we are the 2 people but it's true.

You must have had it expire.

I have a 150xxx and I did not join until I missed a fan club only show in 94.

Unfortunately, I don't think the 10 club will be of much help to you. I have a similar situation where I have met people over the years who joined quite a bit after me (I joined in late 91 or 92) that have significantly lower membership numbers than I do. And no I never let my membership lapse.

When I contacted the 10 club for information they said all the old records were destroyed in a flood or fire or something and there was nothing they could do. As I recall there were no membership numbers in the very beginning. I think they started using membership numbers a few years later and used the information from 10 club purchases to assign the numbers to the existing membership since they didn't know the exact dates that the early members joined.

    Good luck with your reseach.

bullshit. numbers weren't even used until late 98
Toward the end of 1998, fan club mailings and member merchandise orders started arriving not only with the member's expiration date -- which had been included on 10C mailing labels since around 1993 -- but with another number: a membership ID number that seemed to have popped out of the blue. It wouldn't be until 10C ticket procedures for the 2000 tour were announced that we found out that that number signified your seniority in the fan club, i.e. the order in which you joined.

I am just telling you when I joined and remember writing my membership # on an ID card that came with the mailer, what year that was I don't know. The number was also on the address label of the Xmas records. I am not actually mentioning this because of anger over ticket placing. I enjoy my seats every show. I am just wondering why this is so.

It doesn't take away from the fact that my cousin and I joined in 92 and have 147 and 164 #s. I don't care, I would just like to know why.

But were still issued by seniority. You think I'm lying about being in the 10club since 1992? Do you want to see my Xmas records? I always though my number was a great number, until I recently saw what numbers people had that joined the same year as me. I just figured there were that many fan club members before i joined.

Xmas records don't have much to do with anything. You can get them all on ebay if you want to... not saying you did, I'm just saying that's not really a valid argument.

Yes because they must take a cut of active members on a certain day to send the XMAS single - say 12/1. So you sign up 6/06 - get a 06 xmas single - your membership goes into default 6/07 you sign back up 11/07 - your membership number goes to the back of the line and guess what you get a 07 xmas single.

Not saying the rules where anywhere close to displayed, enforced, or known in years past compared to now - but sure would be possible to have all XMAS singles while letting your membership lapse more then the 3 month grace.

    SHOW COUNT: (159) 1990's=3, 2000's=53, 2010/20's=103, US=118, CAN=15, Europe=20 ,New Zealand=2, Australia=2
    Mexico=1, Colombia=1

    Upcoming:   Aucklandx2, Gold Coast, Melbournex2

contact the 10C and find out why.
