Mysterious Galaxy in San Diego. They specialize in Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and Mystery. They always have good author events (I've gone to a few readings by Neil Gaiman here).

  • The Used Book Barn in Decatur IL is my favorite place to pick up books. I could spend hours and hours in there.

There's one in Chicago called "Women and Children First" that I really like. Met one of my favorite authors there a few months ago. Glad to see some independent bookstores have survived the recession.

I like this on spring street right before you get to Little Italy. The name escapes me but I want to say it's called McNally's.

:D I love Citylights, so much history and it just kicks ass as far as bookstores go.

...they should give that book out for free with a purchase of $50 or more.

The Tattered Cover. I don't think it's a chain even though we have 2 of them here.
