well first of all you're talking casino alcohol prices, which are outrageous. I was at one of the casino's in AC with my folks once, I don't care for gambling, but they do. I just wanted to sit down and catch some of the Phils game. Where I sat, I had to buy a drink, so I bought a vodka and OJ and it cost me $9.

And hell, the B's deserve it, it's been a loooooooooong time coming. :D

I'm all for it. It is either coming out of the pockets of the players, they had a deal with the casino for partying there, or the ownership is picking up the tab. They deserve it and with the amount of $$$$$ that will be made of this championship I hope the players didn't have to pay anything!

100,000 bottle of champagne is steep though. I hate champagne....hangover city.

Why is it excessive? They have the money, they have the cup, celebrate in style. It's their money. Relatively speaking, it's the same amount of money as a checkout clerk going out and spending $100 in a niteclub. I would love to have tried some of that champagne.

It was a 30 lt bottle so really it was $2500 per 750 ml bottle of champagne. A lot of money, yes. Overly excessive, not really.

Good for them... they are enjoying their victory and helping the local economy at the same time.

Closest casino to Boston, so, it kind of makes sense.

I'm just shocked Foxwoods had one of those 30L Ace of Spades for $100k available.

The Marchand photo ... more fodder for folks that hate him to bits.

I'll never understand why people will pay the ridiculous prices on some bottles of champagne, liquor, etc. For hell's sake, it's just a fucking drink.

Dissidentman, I'm with you. $5 for a Bud Light is absurd.

It may be the same scale relatively speaking......but $100k can provide 10 villages in Africa with clean water supplies for the next century....$100 can't.

Just my opinion, but a certain amount of moral obligation/responsibility comes with money and power. Even if I was loaded, you would NEVER catch me paying $100k for one bottle of alcohol; hell I would refuse to drink it even if somebody else had paid. Doesn't matter what you just won.........there is no justification for that in my mind.

I'll admit I am a hypocrit becuz I blow money on stuff I don't need as well......but I think there is a line where it becomes a serious matter...(couldn't say where exactly tho).

Once in a lifetime opportunity for most of those guys...and they're quite wealthy.
I don't see what the problem is...

I've purchased a $350 bottle of champagne before. Yeah, not quite the same level, but it was incredible! :D

Only 1 player is American, so they are adapting well then.

Understood.....if it was a $100k car I wouldn't care.......or a $100k boat, because those have value and use after one night...and arent absurdly overpriced...but just a bottle of alochol......can't justify it.
  • eddieceddiec Posts: 3,859
The size of the 30 lt bottle actually contained 40 normal bottles of champagne.
Still excessive but clarifies things a little.

That's why this doesn't really bother me. I mean pro-sports teams usually give a ton of time and money to charity. By just doing a quick google search the Bruins run their own charitable foundation. For a lot of these guys this was probably a once in a lifetime thing. So unless you expect them to live like monks just because they are successful then if they have the money , why not let them enjoy it?

And I bet (like most other teams) there are individual players on the team with their own charities set up.
