PJ20 Cubs Game--Wrigley Field Monday

The game on Monday is at 1:20. I just booked my flight, flying into Milwaukee and out of Chicago. Gonna take a train from Milwaukee to Chicago early Monday morning (22 bucks, 1 hour 22 minutes), see downtown Chicago, get breakfast, head to the game, get dinner, then get the 9pm red-eye flight back to NYC.

How many PJ20ers want to join me at this Cubs game? Tickets are dirt cheap right now (as low as 4 bucks). This is my first time in Chicago and I can't wait to see Wrigley field. If you haven't booked airfare yet, I think this is a great way to cap off the weekend. It will be necessary to pack light though, just one backpack for the weekend so that you can get into the stadium.

I'm definitely doing this. Would love to have a section filled with people coming from PJ20, so if any of you are interested, let's use this thread to coordinate travel together and buying the Cubs tickets on Stubhub.

if you do pack a little heavier, you can store your luggage in a Union Station locker for cheap.

AWESOME! thanks for telling me about the lockers. Though I still might not do that, as I won't have time to get all the way back to Union station to get my luggage and then get to the airport--want to get dinner by the stadium and then get out to the airport by 7:30 for a 9pm flight. I have no idea what travel is like in that city, or what travel time is from the North Side to the airport.

If Union Station is on the way, though, then that might work. Or, are there other storage options closer to Wrigley?

Haven't bought tickets yet but if you go to Stubhub (bad prices for concerts, GREAT prices for baseball!) you will see that there are literally DIRT CHEAP tickets all over the stadium. Wherever you want to sit, I'm down. I just want to see the stadium, enjoy the game, wind down from the concert, and then get some deep dish pizza before I head back to New York. I'm not planning on spending more than 15 bucks on a ticket. But we can spend less than 10 if necessary.

game should be over by 4:30. grab a bite to eat and be out of wrigleyville by 6. you could get to union station by 6:30-6:45, grab your shit and be on a blue line by 7:15 which would get your to teh airport around 8. plenty of time.

if you take your shit to wrigley, you can catch a bus on addison to the blue line. once traffic clears, it shouldn't be bad.

i personally don't know of any storage near wrigley, but there could be.

The 81, you rock! I have plenty of time to decide, but sounds like heading back to Union station is my best bet. Is there a big bottleneck to get on the L back to downtown from the game?

does a bear shit in the woods

yes....but it's not bad, plenty of trains. and if you decide to eat in wrigleyville, it'll be cleared out

or you can walk a couple of blocks south and jump on the brown line. it will take you to within a couple of blocks of union station.

good stuff here for bus and train info.

Our trip is still in planning stages, I really don't care where we sit though. Please post when you do buy tickets and what section ..it would be fun to have a big group of Pj fans together again recovery from the show :)

Come on The 81, you have a string of incredibly informative posts and then this one? I know there is great info to be taken out of this but you must explain! How does one watch out for the I beams? What are I beams? Where are I beams?

Seriously, though, thanks for all your help. If you do want to come to the game, the ticket is on me.
  • We're waiting for Thursday to see what section you guys are in..if no one post by then, I will post when we get our seats. If this falls through (which I hope it doesn't) we will be only out $20 or so.

Just spoke to Murphy's. He said he can't "guarantee" but it shouldn't be a problem. They have space for 5-600 people and you should just find a bar tender, tip them well (10-20 bucks depending on size) and ask them to store your bag. He said it's just not an "offered service," so he can't guarantee it will be available.

Also, as for tickets, there is really no need to buy right now but if you all insist, sure, I'll check stubhub now. Anybody have a preference on section?

How about these? There are 6 available . . . infield terrace reserved for 7 bucks each. I think they need to at least be bought in pairs so would one person split them with me, they can paypal me and I will send them the pdf ticket.

this pic is from a couple of rows closer and a few seats over. i can't remember if number goes from left to right or right to left. i sat pretty damn close to this once. i had the beam splitting the pitching mound and home plate. not horrible and with attendance lagging, you can move down a little
