I am a "newbie" so forgive me if this is material that has already been mined. Mirrorball is a really great record that has been in my rotation pretty much since it came out. Vedder or not, (imo) I'm the ocean and throw your hatred down are some of the best stuff the band has ever done. I love the records production and think Jack Irons kicks ass on it. I would of loved to seen this performed live with Neil and the band.
Whattaya think?

Neil Young writes and performs a ton of timeless stuff...in fact I would say that he's pretty good at it. :D I have this jewel currently in my rotation too.

Jack really shines on that whole session. I Got Id has the best drum fills he has ever done. Act of Love is one of my fave songs right now.

    Great album.

Like you said i'm the ocean and throw your hatred down are awesome.

Many neil fans (neil fans who are not pj fans that is) seem to dismiss this album quickly but i'm the ocean is probably the best song he wrote in the 90's. Espcially when it comes to his rockers.

it is a great album and has aged majestically in the 13 years since its release. I was lucky enough to see Neil Young and Pearl Jam (minus Ed) play this album live at the Reading Festival in 1995. Soundgarden and Mudhoney were also on the bill that day, which made for a pretty amazing day all round.

I'm The Ocean is easily on my top ten list of Neil songs, and this album is near the top too, a bunch of great songs on it.
"You're no help," he told the lime. This was unfair. It was only a lime; there was nothing special about it at all. It was doing the best it could.

TOTALLY agree. "I Am the Ocen" is up there with the late 70s Neil/Crazy Horse tunes....And that's as good as it gets in my "Neil" book!! Bought it when it came out....still listen to it today! Killer!

If Neil ends up being the special addition to Bonnaroo, I would think that Neil Jam is going to happen again.
