This is fucking hillariously pathetic.
it speaks volumes to the sad state of our culture.

People are so self absorbed in their own goal-oriented universe,
they don't even remember what common decency is, or how to act like a civilized human being in public.

Educated Snob Berates Train Conductor

pffft.

Wow! What a bitch. I love how the conductor kept her cool and made this woman look even more like a moron. Just shows you that a good education doesn't equal having a bit of class.

She should have skipped Devry and went to finishing school.

"I'm not crazy. Do you know how well educated I am?" Ted Kaczynski (Uni-Bomber) entered Harvard at 16...he was totally crazy, but well educated! Maybe this woman (Uni-Bitch) should consider moving away from civilization as she doesn't seem to have any idea on how to act in a civil manner. Unfortunately, this sort of behavior is glorified on reality shows like the Housewives of wherever the hell they are from, Jersey Shore, Mob Wives, and on and on and on.

    Actually,
and this probably deserves it's own thread topic, but Ted Kaczynski mades some really articulate points.
    Uni-Bomber Manifesto

If you can muck through the whole thing (or just skim in large part) I think you will see that, while the overriding neo-ludite mentality may be "quirky" (to say the least), his opinion in general that modern technology dependent society is awaiting a massive technological-failure driven (ie. solar flare, or oil shortage, grid collapse, etc) event the likes unprecedented in human history is right on point.

Sure, you have to be crazy to kill people over that notion, but i think people tend to forget (or have never even heard of) the message behind some of the folks they label as crazy.

I remember the moment I heard a thing about TK, I was supremely interested.
Like you said, the guy was a genius, who entered harvard VERY early in life, and had actually been a PROFESSOR at Berkeley of all places, before his overwhelming disgust for modern life (see Into The Wild for another example of a correct premise misapplied in the extreme) led him to "drop out" and become a self sufficient survivalist in the woods.

Just thought I'd throw that out there.
His manifesto is good food for thought, even if you don't follow it to HIS conclusion.
    ;)

Geez, I was just getting ready to turn on the Real World Mob Housewives of Jersey Shore but now feel compelled to take a look at the manifesto. Damn the internet!

  • I grew up in a family of University professors who were all classical musicians. My sister has degrees in feminist studies, comparative literature, music and education. Mother and Father both with doctorates who taught university for decades. Most of their friends were also professors at the same university, more doctorates than people.. some had two.

But for all the doctorates, residences, published papers, operas composed, orchestras played in or conducted, even when I was 15 I could there wasn't a clue between them.

Education can be great... but let's not forget Michelle Bachmann was a lawyer and she thinks they should teach intelligent design to children and "let the kids make up their minds." Which is like saying "Teach kids to jump face first into traffic and let them make up their own minds."

Loud talking idiots on cell phones that think the world wants hear what they have to say annoy the hell out of me. People are so absorbed in there selves they forget to be considerate of others or they just do not care.

re: "or they just don't care"
honestly, self awareness is the first step towards courtesy and then group-consciousness, and I honestly believe almost all of the offending people fall below the level of true self-awareness and therefore it would be unfair to suggest that they "don't care" because they aren't even aware of themselves enough to even understand what there would be to "care" about.

Listen to this lady's response. She keeps saying, "tell me what i said", "in my own words, out of my mouth, tell me what i said." ... you must believe either one of 3 things.

    1. that this lady said nothing offensive, and that the real jerk is the person who told the train driver that she used expletives. thus the educated lady would actually be (in a sense) vindicated

    2. that this lady did curse, and that she is LYING about having cursed

    3. that this lady did curse, and that she has such a poor level of self-awareness (ie. none) that she has NO IDEA that she cursed, and genuinely thinks she is being erroneously called out.

As hard as it may be for a thinking\feeling\enlightened person to understand, I would say the odds are on number 3 (thats just my opinion, though) ... I'd be willing to bet this lady's self-awareness is SOOOOO low that she honestly has no recollection of having said anything offensive. And she certainly has no understanding of how loud she is\was talking.

When someone starts saying "do you have any idea how educated i am" ... that is a good first clue to me that said person has spent too much time chasing (or being forced in to) an education \ degree, and WAYYYY to little learning about themselves (truly) as people and as a part of a broader human system. This woman has likely spent the entirety of her adult life (probably since she was a child) being told what to do -- first by her parents and family, then by her teachers, and now (if she has "earned" her degree) by her boss and colleagues, and by the mainstream media. She is like an automaton. There is no genuine awareness discernable in her speech. There is barely any "real" thought being demonstrated. She is *reacting* more than anything, and her reaction lies purely in emotion, rarely (if ever) in intellect or "thought", and certainly never in anything approaching self or group awareness.

    my 2 cents.

I always wonder why people need to state useless facts when they get into an argument with someone. Being well educated doesn't always make someone a more reasonable person.

Maybe she is well "educated" but obviously this doesn't mean she is smart, intelligent, thoughtful, enlightened, cognizant or well informed. Self-absorbed is more like it.

Sigh. I feel like everywhere you go, you come across someone like this, needing attention and everyone in their path is insulting them. They really are everywhere, aren't they.

And then you've got the camera person, videotaping the whole thing, throwing it on you tube, and they get even more attention. I know it should be embarrassing, but more than likely that person making an ass of themselves are too un-aware to realize what an ass they're being.

    WOW

This reminded me of when I overheard a part of a conversation between a lady (name her #1) who ran into another lady (name her #2) she hadn't seen in ages:

(in friendly tone)#2: Hi, how are you?
(annoyed tone) #1: Good. And you?
(still in a friendly tone) #2: I'm doing great. What have you been up to?
(in a condescending tone)#1: I am an intellectual now.

That's when I decided I should leave that store altogether...I didn't want to hear what was going to happen next...
Lots of love, light and hugs to you all!
