Not sure how many people are familiar with him.

His most popular song is "In the Sun"....it has been featured on a few movie soundtracks. Michael Stipe has always been a huge supporter.

He is from Akron, OH, and has been releasing cd's since the late 90s. He is also a well-respected painter, and he often paints on canvas in-between songs at his show...he sometimes sells them after the show. I was at a party at a recording studio last year, and watched him paint a huge piece outside the studio.

My favorite song by him is "Mexican Army". His live shows are cool because he records multi-layered loops right before he starts a song, and then plays along with the loops.

i'm a pretty big fan. Innocent World got tons and tons of play-time the year it was released (05 or 06?) and is my favorite. Redemption's Son really pulled me in from the first note....

great stuff. PJ fans are lucky to get this guy, they should do some listening before the weekend.

    cheers

Love what I've heard so far, and am excited to check him out live this summer at our local folk festival.
Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V
  • I saw him open for Wilco around 7 years ago and while he was amazing on stage, he was a complete douche out by the bus after the show. My wife really enjoyed it and asked if she could get a picture with him. He replied in the most rude and condescending way "You know, I'm not in Wilco". No shit dude, really? To this day my wife hates him and won't listen to him anymore.

Get Nuclear Daydream, Redemption Son those are my favorites but all are great.
  • Have a friend who is a huge fan and have been along with him to see him twice in small venues. First time was with his band the Lonely Astronauts and second time solo. Great shows and you can buy the bootleg of the show stright after at the Merch stall. During the Manchester show I saw in May he was adding bits to a canvas he had been working on whilst on stage and my friend ended up buying it for £500 (he really is a big fan)

The album 'Our Shadows Will Remain' is good and 'Temporary People' with the Astronauts is worth checking out.I also like the FOM stuff. New album seems a bit of a grower but I'm sure he will be great at PJ20.

I am surprised to hear stuff about him been rude. At both gigs I have seen he has appeared at the Merch stall at the end and played songs on acoustic or just chatted and mingled with fans. My friend and I got a picture taken with him. He seems like a stand up guy.

Just about everything I've heard him say is sarcastic and dry. That comes off very much as a self-deprecating joke; one that I think is pretty funny.

I really like this guy. Only been listening to him for a week or two, but he has got a new fan....definitely worth checking out. I like how he includes his art into the shows also. He just seems like one of those people that are made to be in front of a crowd.
