Anyone else going to see these?
I am going to see fellowship tonight. Selecte theatres are showing them every tuesday for the next three weeks leading up to the blu ray release.

I'm pretty excited. Hard to believe this christmas it will have been 10 years since the first one came out

I'm going to hit at least one of these showings in the theater. My 10 year old is way into these books and movies now.

There's also a LOTR concert tour coming around, similar to the Star Wars in concert that I'll probably take him to.
"You're no help," he told the lime. This was unfair. It was only a lime; there was nothing special about it at all. It was doing the best it could.

Awesome movies. Was just reading about this today. I was just gearing up for my annual viewing of the trilogy, but may put it off. May have to check if they're in theatres close by. The extended versions are great. Love all the extra footage that went into them.

Can't wait for The Hobbit:An Unexpected Journey/There And Back Again movies...esp since Peter Jackson is back in the directors chair. Seemed like Guillermo delToro was gonna change it up too much.

Overall, I thought they did a pretty good job of adapting the books into the movies. Still prefer the books with all the extra detail.

Just recently read The Silmarillion and Tolkien had an amazing imagination. Read that there were bits of it that they wanted to work into the movies to help with the middle earth history, but they don't have the rights for that stuff.

I went to an all-day marathon in the theater when Return of the King came out, my sis and I won a prize for best seat-saver. They announced it between the 1st and 2nd movie, so we went to the craft store in the shopping center and got stuff to make it....was a pencil with an eyeball on top that said Sauron is keeping an eye on my seat

I definitely would like to experience the extended versions in a theater. The battle scenes must be spectacular.

I've got the extended versions on DVD. I don't understand the whole Blu-Ray thing. I guess I'd better do some reading...

It was awesome in the theater, and seeing Return of the King was so cool....not a single person got up to leave the theater during it, was fun to watch it with a bunch of hardcores. The studio gave everyone a free souvenir on the way out, framed filmstrips from each of the movies *adjusting pocket protector* lol :geek:

Oh my God, just as I was reading that I heard a suspicious little "pffffft" arising from the butt of puppy Tessie, who is sound asleep on the couch beside me, of course with her tail upwind of my nose.

I like it when Tessie comes over to me, sits at my feet, looks up lovingly, and then toots. She blinks, then looks around _ like she's not sure where that came from.

    But I digress...

I bet when Aragorn farts, it smells just like Old Spice cologne.

The Hobbit is being shot in 3d and IMAX 3d.

Also gonna be shot at 48frames per second as opposed to the standard 24.

The extended editions are soooooo much better.

I hate long movies too, but watch them in parts. I recently caved in and bought the theatrical versions on blu-ray and was underwelmed. I forgot how many memorable scenes were added. The EE are kind of paced too long, but add so much to the story. I will never watch another version again.

Seeing it last night was cool the theatre was packed it reminded me of when i saw it the first time in the theate everyone was into it and clapped before and even after a couple parts during (like when aragorn chops the uriki (sp??) head off that killed boromir. and of course there was cheers afterwards.
It was kind of need to see some young teenagers there i thought about it they probably never saw the first ones in the theatre as they were too young.

Peter Jackson did a little thank you note before the movie. I've got tickets for the other two and can't wait to see them :D

Looks like image quality improvements on the extended blu-rays, more detail, sharper image, but the Fellowship has new color timings, a blueish green tint to it.. How do you guys feel about that? I saw comparison images and I kind of like it. It feels more atmospheric.

That's awesome that they were able to clean it up. From those two pics in the article ^, it looks much better! As far as the green-blue tint...we'll see. I have a friend who got the theatrical BDs and he said it was quite disappointing as Fellowship just looked ever so slightly better than the DVD.

    Bluish-green or not...I'm still getting it! :)
