Hello all,

I figured this would be a great place to get advice my big adventure. I just graduated from school and after numerous rejection letters, I finally recieved a job offer and will be relocating to Klamath Falls, Oregon.

Any advice about the people, nice places to move(I already know to to stay the hell away from Mills addition)
and things to do.. Really any advice would be appreciated as long as its positive!

Thanks all I figured this community might be able to help me out.

cheers

Unfortunately, I do not have much advice for you.

But, I would like to say this: Congratulations on your new chapter! I'm jealous, as it is my goal to reside in the northwest. It is beautiful country up there. If you get a chance in your downtime, take a trip to the Columbia River Gorge in between Washington and Oregon. Visit The Dahles, Hood, etc.. you will not regret it. It is incredibly beautiful, and majestic there.

I have not been specifically to Klamath Falls...

I have been to Medford which is about 75 miles away-it was HOT when I visited, 120 degrees...it was sometime in July.

    Definitely go see Grants Pass,

Crater Lake is nearby...worth the trip:

in northeastern OR, go to Hells Canyon (on the Snake River)and take the jet boat ride.

See Mulnotmah Falls which is along the Columbia river:

it's a really good hike to the top.
while you're in the area...go seek out Bridal Veil Falls:

I'll think of more stuff for you....(I think now I'm making dc want to move up here sooner.... ;) )

you're gonna need to grow a beard, get a really smart dog, and a pickup truck.
bring a mountain bike, a kayak, an umbrella, and a ukulele. you can purchase your bong once you get there.

enjoy - oregon is fucking beautiful.
oh, and don't pronounce it "ore - E - gone' with accent on middle sylable. more like " OR- eh - gun" accent on 1st syllable, and barely pronouce the middle 'e'.
if you think the east coast is too crowded, then you're gonna love it. good luck!

You'll be kind of close to the Bend area also. Lots of golf, river sports, hiking, skiing, Smith Rock(a climbing mecca). Definitely go to Crater Lake, Newberry Crater, Crooked River, and McKenzie Pass. You will be pretty far from any major city(Eugene 3 hrs., Portland 5 hrs.) and a decent drive to most of these attractions. I'm in Springfield if you ever make it up this way.

And forget the umbrella, we don't need those.

And forget the umbrella, we don't need those because that's how we pick out the tourists/non-locals

    fixed ;)

Add Multnomah Falls to the list, get a snowboard and shread all of the Mts. get a boat and raft all of the rivers, and try the pot ( it's the best in the country).

I've been in Oregon 17 years but haven't been to K-Falls, it's kind of tucked up and out of the way. All I hear about it is conflicts over water rights and the blue-green algae is from there. Everyone's given you good recommendations. You're probably closest to Ashland, which is a cool little town. No one mentioned the beer, which is the best! It'll probably be an adjustment culturally, which can be a good thing. Welcome in advance, it great to be here.

Congrats on the job and welcome to Oregon.

Oregon and the Pacific Northwest as a whole is amazing. I can't imagine living anywhere else. Born and raised in North Eastern OR. But I have lived along the I-5 corridor on the west side of the state. Plenty of activities for whatever you are into here. Definitly hit the Oregon Coast along Highway 101. Flat out beautiful. And if you want to be in the city, out in the desert or around water, a 2 to 5 hour drive will get you there. Plenty of great brewerys and who ever mentioned the great pot out here, amen! Don't forget about the music either. You always here about Seattle bands (which don't get me wrong, is still fantastic.) But Portland holds its own to.

Feel free to PM me if you need any questions answered. Again, congrats and welcome to Oregon!
