And seeing PETER THE NIGHT BEFORE IN SAN FRAN! Just got the new album, am freakin peein in my pants to see the man do his thang in a small, small venue. Boardwalk will be off the hook! Seen many a show there!
Have seen Peter live 3-4 times (hazy) and I recall the Warfield just being an insane show in the late 80s. Very few have the emote-ability this dude has, the control of his voice, the deep deep pipes (and vast sea) -- and the full-on freak flag flying!
There's Bowie ... then there's Peter ... then there's everyone else (with the Cure prolly being at the top of that heap..., mmkay, maybe Robert belongs up there next to petey!)
And if you wouldn't mind checking out our pages.. facebook.com/mezzalunatheband, mezzaluna.bandcamp.com ..Let us know what you think.

Love the new tunes he brought with him, I Spit Roses and Seesaw Sway loads of fun. He played some unreleased tune as well that was ephemeral. Just a few of his earlier solo pieces, but Subway and I'll Fall With Your Knife were hits with me. Cascade not my fav album, but looking at it, surprised by how many of those songs I do like. And some Bauhaus tunes, ooooh yesssssss. She's Into Parties, Stigmata Martyr and a small trip with Bela Legosi.
Didn't get any of the songs I was really hoping for, he left behind many of the big hits of his solo career and let this new band have their time in the limelight, but again, it worked. I'm buying the new album.
Very cool to see him "raw" or stripped down, bit of sequencing (well a lot actually) but no keyboards per se. Just the classic four-man rock set-up. The new tunes really worked, but man, I hope that was a house sound guy and not someone touring with 'em. Peter was ALL OVER the sound guy, giving instructions in between lines and verses, quite frustrated at times -- just constantly telling the dude how to do his job. So I got the feeling this was a kind of "tune up" tour -- but I'll take all the shop talk during the songs for the hilarity in between songs.
Peter was very very chatty, and a had a few good lines Ed should borrow! "Shut the F*#@ up, I'm the artist, I'll do the entertaining..." He riffed on about how, sadly, all goths had simply become moths (but I'll note, wow, goths have more money for their clothes these days, some of the outfits were stunning!) He would talk for 3-4 minutes at times, interacting, chatting, letting a girl tie his shoe and seranading her.
And his frontman power continues, this man is freaky! Great to watch, some trippy moves he's got, and the control of that deep deep voice is chilling.
Great fun!
