Free tickets from work for yesterday's game. It was really hot out, so wasn't sure I would go, but my youngest son was bored, so I took him to the game, girlfriend caught up with us mid-game:

Reading Phillies vs. Trenton Thunder (?) - the game was decent, Phillies were ahead 4-0 by the third inning, two home runs later and it was 4-4. Eventually ended with Trenton winning 7-6. There were a few players hit with the ball, and at some point in the sixth inning, there was an altercation at 2nd base, and all the players from both teams rushed out, thought there would be a rumble, but it ended ok.

Its a great night out, they do wacky things in between each inning - the crazy hot dog vendor guy runs around on the field throwing hot dogs into the stands; t-shirts cannons; races with vegtable characters; inflatable character dancing; contests, and fireworks after the game.

Food is cheap, we got 2 hot dogs, fries, a soda, and a beer for about $17.50. My girlfriend got a cheeseteak, fries and a water for $11.

Beers were $5 for 16oz., $8.50 for 32oz., they had the typical Coors and Bud, the high end was Yuengling and Sam Adams, same price though.

Best thing, it's close to home, about 5 miles, very near to where I work.

I love going to our AA Jacksonville Suns games (farm team for the Marlins). Cheap seats, GREAT ballpark, $1.00 beers on 'Thirsty Thursdays' and they've been in the chamionship game for like 5 years straight.

What team did you see? My guess is since your profile has you listed as Eastern PA, it was Lehigh Valley.

I love going to minor league games. I try to get to Brooklyn once a year. One time I went turned out to be a 26-inning game against Oneonta. I also try to get to Lakewood sometimes.

i've been to a few Toledo MudHens games. went to the last game of the season a couple years back. one of the players who was a long time minor leager and fan fav played all 9 positions. it was fun to watch him work his way around hte diamond.

he took the mound in the 9th inning in a save situation. i think he got an out and then started to get shelled. eventually they had to yank him. but it was fun.

Did you see Mike Hessman, who is one of the all-time leaders if not the leader in Triple-A home runs?

My girlfriend asked if it was AAA or AA. I said I dunno, but tonight it's F.R.E.E.

i used to live in greenville, sc... home of the Greenville Drive (Single A Red Sox)... they have the nicest minor league park i've ever been to, and the thirsty thursdays are always fun as the park is packed with 20-somethings.

Having my sons birthday at the new Britain Rockcats (twins AA affiliate) game tomorrow. I'm good for about 4 or 5 games a year.

You can't beat the ticket prices. Baseball is baseball to me

Nice place for a kids party!

The stadium here actually has a small pool and you can have kids parties there. I was wishing I could jump in there last night, it was so hot!

my son takes his son (age 4) to the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs games all the time.

They do great stuff for the kids ..and there is a lot of tomfoolery that goes on between innings that the kids get a real kick out of..and the grown ups too. The kids can run the bases..they have the mascot races...the Phanatic's Girlfriend hangs out there and the Pigs Mascot is super cool for the kids! Phanatic shows up often. Last year I think they had the Phanatic's birthday party there. Its a great time for the kids! Much more fun for kids than the "real" thing.

They have all sorts of give-aways too. And signings. Just recently Shane "The Flyin' Hawaiian" Victorino was on the DL and down to LV...that was cool.

AND as a bonus for us grown-ups..you can watch the up and coming Phillies stars as well as Phils who have been sent down on the DL or whatever.

There is a special section where the kids can run around and not have to sit in the seats if you don't want to...which is a great idea when they're young and all ADD and stuff.

So for just a couple of bucks, good deal..you get a lot of entertainment.

In the last 5 years I've gone to more Paw Sox games then I have Red Sox

Pawtucket RI is closer to me.

    It's family friendly

and everything including the beer is cheap.

    always a great take

I've had good luck too seeing Sox players doing rehab stints... over the years I've seen Schilling, Pedro, Beckett... I remember seeing Youk before he went big

i HAVE to get out to our brand new facility...been open just a few months...our farm team of the KC Royals is the Omaha royals but they changed their name to the StormChasers for the new venue...They have been playing @ Rosenblatt, home of the College World Series stadium..., it was old so we pretty much had to build a new CWS stadium to keep the CWS in Omaha (successfully getting a 25yr deal out of the ncaa)...New staduim/like ol stadium was way too big for Minor league teams so our local team got a new place to play (bout 8 miles from my house) business is way up for the team, like i said, i gotta get out to it!! supposed to be very family friendly so the wife and my 2 kids, im sure will like it as we'll...

I go to the Birmingham Barons a few times a season. They are in the White Sox farm. It's always fun I like the quiet nights and Thirsty Thursday w/ dollar beers where it's a madhouse.

R-Phils games are a good time. Even though the lines can get a bit busy, go during Glutton Night(pretty sweet name) where you can get premium seats and all you can eat for about $15.

The closest I've come is watching the Camden Riversharks from the train from Philly that crosses the Ben Franklin Bridge. I see about 15 seconds at a time.

I do have a Von Hayes bobble head though. He's managing the Riversharks these days.

I would like to see the Iron Pigs though, go check up on Ryne Sandberg, an old favorite of mine. :D

we have a minor league stadium in my town--about 10 min. away for me but I have not gone to a game in a few years. i think they are a farm team for the Astros now but it changes all the time so who knows?

went more when my kids were younger. We all had fun....i should go again.

Brooklyn Cyclones play five minutes from me. I personally hate baseball, but a nice Friday evening game with respectably priced beers, full view of the fireworks display from Coney Island and the promise of Nathan's Famous directly after the game makes it all right!

My 5 year old and I have had a Saturday night package the last two seasons for the Harrisburg Senators (National AA). We have a pretty good routine we follow...

Get there when gates open - head to kids area
    Watch innings 1 - 3
    Kids area innings 4 - 6
Watch final innings of the game

Grew up about 20 miles south of Charlotte and used to go to a handful of (AAA) Knights games every summer. Really enjoyed going to their games. Good, cheap entertainment. Saw Manny Ramirez and Jim Thome when they were affiliated with the Indians. That team was stacked. Fell off when they got with the Marlins as they didn't have a great farm system then. Think they're with the ChiSox now.

Just as I moved to Columbia for good, we lost our A team. They are now the aforementioned Greenville Drive. I love keeping up with the Gamecocks, but it'd be really nice to have a team in July/August again...

Yeah, I enjoy going to Salt Lake Bees games. They're an affiliate of the Anaheim Angels (or are they California? I can't keep up).

Fun time, for an affordable price. Beer on a hot day in the stands of a ballpark? Yes please.

    8/23/09 - Chicago, IL

    9/03/11 - East Troy, WI - PJ20 - Night 1
