Is there a studio version out there somewhere? I know it's on his 1979 Flag album. It still sounds live cause there is cheering in the middle. Was this song only recorded live?

Thank you so much guys. The version on flag sounds awesome, but wanted to know if there was an official studio version or if this is it?

Thank you.

He could've edited the audience in there.

It says it's from a Broadway musical.

that's what I was pretty much thinking. Thanks for the help I really appreciate it. Seems like that album was recorded for the musical. Been on a James Taylor kick the last day or two. Just really been enjoying his tunes. It is cool to hear Ed do these covers, cause then I like to track down the originals and check them out.

I guess I'm confused by your post. The version on Flag is the original. At least on my (old) copy of Flag, there is no audience noise, its a pure studio creation.

Flag is highly recommended as an underappreciated/underrated JT album, an artistic peak that (in my opinion) he has not been able to approach since it was released. Although the whole album is good, the song sequence Is That the Way You Look/BSUR/Rainy Day Man/Millworker/Up On the Roof is just wonderful.

thanks for the info. it's on itunes and it's studio. I will dowload it tomorrow. Thank you. had an old file, and zune brought up the flag cover for it. But yes, the actual version on the album is studio. thank you for letting me know.

Another one of those very underrated James Taylor songs. I used to love playing it on guitar. Have any of you seen Springsteen's live cover of it (from the MusiCares ceremony honoring James)? He played it with a twelve-string and made the song sound very apocalyptic.
