Stone's Background Vocals

I don't know if this has ever been a bone of contention with anybody else, but I've often been let down on occasion at the live shows when it comes to Stone's vocals. Hear me out.

Most of the time, I can tell when he's trying to play his guitar parts and get the words out, but either due to bad sound mixing or not having his mic turned up (both of which, the blame falls on the sound crew & his tech) you hardly ever get to hear his singing parts.

Other times, and we've all seen it, he seems like he's too busy (possibly hoarse? not confident?) to throw his parts in, so Eddie will compensate by doing them himself, or letting the crowd fill in.

So what I am trying to do with this thread, is re-enforce the fact that he is the no.2 songwriter in the band, and at the end of the day... it really is his & Jeff's pizza pie, any way you slice it. I love Eddie. Eddie is my hero. But I give credit where credit is due, and we would not have the band if not for Stone & Jeff.

So if there's anyone out there who can pass this on to Stone, or if you get a chance to read this yourself...

... just sing, sir. We like you. It doesn't have to be perfect.

We WANT to hear 'Glorified G' the way you wrote it.

We WANT to hear 'Mankind' more than every once in a while. (and 'Don't Gimme No Lip', for that matter)

I would dance a jig if I heard you, Jeff, Mike, Matt & Eddie pull 5-part harmony on 'All Those Yesterdays'. Shit a brick, even.

But all & all, just sing and have a good time. And if you don't want to anymore, just tell us. And we'll understand.

Well... I will, some of these other folks might go 'Misery' on you, but you get the idea.

I've posted about this many times and am complete agreement. I love, however, when Stone AND Matt throw in backround vocals to 'Why Go'...it delivers better.

    But again, I completely agree.
I love to turn you on

Thank you, sir. Glad i'm not alone on this.

Really? I've never heard them both do that.

I think i've heard just Matt, but not Stone too. Can you point me towards a live boot of it ?

Hell I could be wrong, but I thought last tour they were both singing it toward the end...anywhooo, it's just seemed louder in '06 than any other time i remember.
I love to turn you on

    Jeff and Stone!

I'm not too fond of Matt singing.

They still can't seem to make Unemployable work out right, but Why Go was great in 2006. I do like Matt's background vocals on Evenflow and I've never understood why Stone couldn't do it before Matt joined the band.
It is time to admit that we used to rock like hurricanes. It is time to run for the hills and go round and round. It is time for us to shout at the devil. We've got the right to choose it, there ain't no way we'll lose it, and we're not gonna take it anymore.
