Soundgarden headlining New Orleans' Voodoo Experience

The Voodoo Experience is a three-day festival in N'awlins that brings a lot of 80s and 90s rock headliners - this year their first announced headliner is Soundgarden. The festival is traditionally Halloween weekend, here it falls on 10/28-10/30 (Friday to Sunday).

So, Pearl Jam won't be touring around Halloween... and this festival just got a "thumbs up" for 2011. I've gone the past three years, seeing Muse, NIN, Jane's Addiction, KISS, Ozzy Osbourne, MMJ, REM, STP, Black Keys, Wolfmother, Lenny Kravitz, Weezer, MGMT, Ween... just a ton of good acts. It's not the best festival on the planet, but tickets are cheap ($129 this year) and New Orleans is a fantastic place to rock out a weekend.

I'll update when relevant bands are announced.
Is it too much to ask for a full-blown Temple of the Dog set? Probably.

Did you notice this part (highlighted)? Seems like a PJ20 appearance has been ruled out for now.

Legendary Seattle rock band Soundgarden--in the group’s only U.S. festival appearance of the year--is the first headliner to be announced for the 2011 THE VOODOO EXPERIENCE PRESENTED BY STEPHEN REHAGE. VOODOO--the final musical celebration of the annual U.S. music festival season--is set to take place in New Orleans’ City Park, Friday, October 28, Saturday, October 29 and Sunday, October 30.

I thought Tim pretty much put that "rumor" to rest a few shows ago on PJ Radio? Didn't even think it was an option

They can't afford Soundgarden on top of what they already have booked, but that doesn't mean there won't be an improptu jam at some point or a TOTD mini-set.

Soundgarden is expensive, Chris is not. Plus, Matt's on retainer! Heh.

Never been to Voodoo and would hate to miss a chance to see Soundgarden but i'll be unlikely to be able to go all weekend.....are there no one-day passes sold for it?
All I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow

They say every sin is deadly but I believe they may be wrong...I'm guilty of all seven and I don't feel too bad at all

No one day passes, but the pass is only $129.. probably $140 after fees. Simple solution - buy the pass, don't tighten the wristband too tight, sell it on Craigslist when you're done. There are a lot of secondary sales for Voodoo wristbands - I think the distributors sell some counterfeits or the volunteers steal a bag of wristbands or something... seems like there's always somebody trying to unload wristbands near the venue.

Of course, no word on what day SG is playing, or what you'll miss on the other days... so that's a concern. And more days = better in N'awlins.
