Ultramega OK vinyl

I just picked this up today and listened to it and found a few things that were weird.

Circle of Power is listed as being the last track on Side A but it is actually the first track on side B and, my copy at least, seems to be missing One Minute of Silence. Incessant Mace ends side B. Is this normal or do I have a defective copy?

  • Can't necessarily help you out, but what is etched in the grooves on either side?
Would help "us" to determine which pressing.

    Shouldn't be like that.
Not sure what pressing you have though.

    It was "recently" (2000s?) re-released.
But the re-released copy i have is all as it should be.
The only problem is it is very LOUD.

If I opened it now would you not understand?

What I have is a black vinyl in a plain white sleeve. No inserts at all.

    Etched on each side is:

    595-SST201-1 S-20610 RE-1 S-20611 on side B

    :?: :?: :?:
    ionno.
this sounds like a test pressing.
plain white sleeve *could* be a "dj copy", but i don't think SST was giving out too many (ie. any) of those for SG back in '88.

You're sure that 1min is missing and CoP is on side B?
is 1MinSIl on the record label or is the actual track list missing the song?
what color is the center of the vinyl?
there is no SST sticker of anysort labeling the sleeve?

I can't tell if someone replaced the correct sleeve with a white one,
or if you have a test pressing with the SST label pulled off of the cover.
google "ultramega ok test" and you can see two photos of a test pressing.

I have NO idea what you have. but the fact that it has "595-SST201" etched on the groove clearly indicates that it is NOT a bootleg.

whatever you have. it's pretty fucking rare.

FYI, i asked about the groove, cuz the 1st release pressings of Utlra had
Side A (This Side): A religious man might think we're evil...
Side B (Other Side): A rational man might think we're religious...
    in the spirals.

Your record seems to pre date the actual 1st pressing.
this is a test press: ultramega ok test

I assumed mine was a reissue so I wonder if they are all like that or if there was a defective batch made. I got mine brand new from a local record shop.

The center of the vinyl is yellow and on side A it has the track listings for each side and it lists Circle of Power as being on Side A and One Minute of Silence as being the last track on Side B. The Side B label is yellow with some design in red on it.

    Yeah.
I think "RE-1" does actually mean reissue, but i dunno.
you threw me off with "white sleeve", are you saying the record came in a white sleeve, or that there is a plain white *inner* (protective) sleeve inside of the actual album jacket(w artwork)?

Its funny though because my (at the time) unopened reissue came with *no* protective white sleeve liner, and that always pisses me off royally. Probably the number one cause of scratches on a record is putting it in to its jacket with no inner sleeve. Cheap bastards.

is there anything inscribed near the label on the record other than SKU #'s?

mine is a first pressing for sure. the record comes in a inner white sleeve and liner notes/mini poster is a seperate piece of black paper on this inside.

hand etched on side a it says " a religious man might think we're evil...."

and on side b is: " a rational man might think we're religious."

and my tracks are in the proper order on label and vinyl.

The jacket is the normal cover and the record itself came in a plain white inner sleeve. There was nothing else inside the jacket other than the record.

None of those witty sayings are etched into my vinyl, just the numbers.

Yeah. Thats why i originally asked.
This IS a very good indication that it is a reissue.
I guess they fucked up some pressings.
Mine is a reissue, but doesn't have either of the problems you mention.

The only reason i thought it was a pre-1st-pressing \test pressing was because i misunderstood your comment regarding the white sleeve. I thought you were saying you purchased it in ONLY a white sleeve\jacket which is how test & dj copies come.

I guess someone at SST just screwed the pooch on the reissue.
i dunno. i'm still just pissed they didn't give me a white sleeve in mine.
They cost like less than a penny. lol.
    :(

Yeah maybe they had a bad run or something. It's probably no use in me taking it back because the other copy they had will most likely have the same problem and it seem the ones from Amazon are messed up too. It's not like it's a really big deal. I mean I'm missing a track that is nothing but silence. I think I can live without it :).
