Best show of the tour?! South Carolina

Just by looking t the setlists would the South Carolina show be just about the best of the tour. Better than Bonnaroo? Camden One looked good but South Carolina for me looks hard to beat!

By the way i havent been to any shows as i live in aus but it looks mighty impressive! Think it will be the boot i order thus far. Ordered Bonaroo then this baby dropped.

    I agree.

I was at WPB and Tampa and enjoyed WPB because they played a lot of songs I haven't heard live before. Tampa was probably an overall better show, though. However, the Columbia setlist was amazing!

I have already ordered WPB, Tampa, Roo, and Columbia. I am holding off to see what else I will get -- probably, at least the two MSG shows.
  • and soon to be posted:

Roo was something else..(all other variations included in this generalization)

Same here! WPB and Tampa were great. Don't seem to get enought credit on the board. But the Roo and SC set lists are sick. Can't wait to hear those boots. Congrats to all that made those 2 shows!

The best show is the one I've seen - Tampa was a great night.

Next week the best show may be one of the Garden shows.

    columbia was magical...

I could say it may very well be the best show of the tour.. but there are alot of shows left...

it will hold its own ;) I was so hoping they would see my arms (wrote "rival" on the insides) .. i really had the notion that i was gonna get rival that night :D But i was pleasantly VERY pleasantly suprised with getting to enjoythe greatness that was "Red Mosquito" live.

    love this band .
  • you gotta look at more than just the setlist. At Roo they were even playing the oldies like they were brand new. maximum energy
  • personally i can't stand festivals. i can't imagine anywhere else i'd rather NOT see pearl jam play then with tens of thousands of fans at a general admission show. after standing around all day in the sun. with stinky hippies.

I agree completely. It was my 32nd show and Columbia is in my top 5 (probably 3rd). The list includes the Vic, Boston III, Philly '05, etc....

Columbia was about the people and the band, not about venue (Gorge and Bonnaroo).

It seems people on the east coast and northwest coast have trouble giving any props to shows in the midwest, like "no crowd can be as good as our crowd". If the show doesn't take place in NY, Boston, Philly, or the Gorge, then it cannot be epic.

i do have an open mind. and i have tried festivals. i don't like them at all. it's not the way i enjoy seeing live music. nothing about it appeals to me.

u said it right there...it was about the people and the band. It was surreal to be pointed out and noticed by the band members thruout the nite like in approval for rockin out balls to the wall, n it want just me...the connections were everywhere and often!

shit my list includes the classic 98 nite msg, 2 more in 03, 3 gorge shows Irving Plaza, Jersey shows, hell, Kissimee even 2nd row in front of mike thru half the show imght a just even been passed!

  • wasnt there but taking into account of everything, the crowd at Camden 1 was really good. again not sure if the columbia crowd was comparable. But clearly one of the best overall crowds Ive ever been a part of.

This aside from awesome set lists at least for us die hards, because people who are casual fans are probably wondering why there not playing Jeremy and alike.

It would be like me going to the foo fighters and them not playing monkey wrench and everlong. Just food for thought b/c Im sure some responses will be similar to what Eddie would say "fuck em"

I would have agreed (Red Mosquito at bloody last!!!).. but then Camden 2 happened...closest to a Euro crowd have seen this tour :D

I'm starting to think that MSG (with many euros there as well anyway :p) might actually live up to the expectation..

Agreed...the setlist in itself was phenomenal but the intensity of the crowd and the energy the band was putting out there, feeding off the crowd and vice versa made the night unlike any show I've been to before. And Ed was singing his heart and lungs out....nothing but heart and soul filled that place the entire night! Amazing show..the best I've seen so far.

the funny thing in a way is I kinda DONT want MSG to be better and I know its GOING to be for sure, but one thing Ive learned about PJ shows is each show is so unique in its own way and each fan brings back amazing memories usually, so with that said..Im still kinda feeling that Columbia high and dont wanna come down from it!
Columbia was like when you score them killer greens and youre like YES!!!!
well..MSG is gonna be like that shit Chappelle found in Half Baked..when Given to Fly comes on...that floor is literally gonna rise up esp during the "ANd he still gives his love..." part..watch..in 03 nite 2 when they did that I was halfway thru the arena, Mikes side..right above the floor and I swear the dark blue light that shone on the floor and you see that WHOLE floor just jump in unison at that part...still get goosebumps when I think of that

  • after nyc i'll (only) have seen 10, but columbia was an absolute, out-of-nowhere surprise in terms of the audience.

    made my top 3.

1: atlanta / 98 (the first time i got the chance to see the band...i think it'll always be #1)

    2. e. rutherford #2 / 06 (first time i experienced a "northern" concert crowd. every word of every song was known...felt like i was levitating)

    3. columbia / 08: (setlist & audience were incredible...i can still hear ed's harp on "footsteps")

I've never been to a camping festival before, so I had no idea what to expect and trust me- it was very well organized and the great thing about Roo is that if you want to get up front of the stage, you don't have to camp out all day long there- you simply get in line and you're there

    i wouldnt say "simply"
i had to wait 5 hrs during B.B. King and JJ's set to just barely get in on Stone's side. Literally, they let 750 fans in on each side for access to the pit; I was #671 on the right side as I heard the yellow shirt guys counting off numbers. People that waited 4.5 hrs or less were SOL

okay, you've gotta good point there- my only complaint about the entire weekend was that they weren't organized enough with the Pit line- a few more security guards and some roped off fences would had made it perfect.

But the good thing about staying in line during BB and JJ, you still got to watch/listen to them and also meet some pretty cool Jammers
