just because you dont know about it doesnt mean it doesnt happen

it does, all over the country

this is hypothetical but my buddy works for coca-cola
coca-cola supplies MSG with soft drinks
my buddy calls up the account exec at msg and says
I need two seats to PJ on 6/25, can you help me?
Exec says sure no problem, but I wont know how good the seats are until the day of the show, you know PJ has that fan club and a lot of the good seats are taken, but I know PJ is your fav, so I will get you as close as I can. Promotional seats are held, but often not distributed (sometimes they are and this is one of the ways brokers get there hands on REALLY good tickets).

Day of the show comes, and my buddy picks up two seats third row at will call-face value.

Believe it and its part of the reason you rarely get decent seats through TM.

anyway, just saying, you dont know for a fact that the seller is a member

Sounds like you are just bitter that perhaps you didnt get tickets.

EDIT yes, its a good idea to send it to the 10C.

    very true.

facts are good to be known.

I work for CBS, 9 out of 10x we pick up the seats day of show at will call w/corporate credit card and CBS ID.

however, from the e-bay post it does sound like it is a 10C member.

I'll agree with the hypothetical since it has happened a few times to me for hockey games. A friend knows someone, asks about seeing a game and we have no idea where the seats are until we pick up the tickets. I've been anywhere from a club suite to ice level to low in the 2nd level.

Even if it is a fan club member selling the tickets (which it likely is), I doubt they would be dumb enough to sell it through their own eBay account. It would be pretty easy to get a friend to sell the tickets for you. For example, my friend "Bob" posts the auction, buyer pays "Bob" and arranges to meet him around the venue, I go pick up my tickets and meet the guy at the arranged place and my friend gives me the money.

The only way 10c can stop this is if people are forced to go in the building as soon as they pick up their tickets (which is basically impossible in most arenas). Hate to say it, but this type of stuff is pretty inevitable.

For those who were lucky enough to get good seats for Springsteen at the Meadowlands during that really long run of shows he did a few yers back they made all the premium seat holders pick up at will call (the limit was 2 tix). Both people had to be there, they put wrist bands on you and then escorted you into the building right away once you picked up the tix... No chance to transfer the tix at all...

That's what always bugs me about these "track him down and ban him" comments. Only the dumbest of dumb tenclub members would use the email address that 10club has on file to sell something on ebay that 10club has forbidden. I mean how long does it take to set up a fake hotmail or gmail account?

I've gone to Flyers games in Philly with friends who worked for team sponsors and had similar experience to what was described by those going to MSG. Just hope/wish there is some sort of way 10C can work with EBay and /or MSG to track the tix. Pipe dream at best.

i disagree. check this thread on some va bch tix that were on the bay

the auction is gone, but parts of the description are copied, as well as a response to questions from the seller.

10c has copyright protection, and can get shut down any auction they want that violates their rights

10club can shut down any auction that violates their rights, for sure. But they are never going to wipe it out completely. I mean let’s say a person is dumb enough to use their same email address with 10club and ebay. 10club finds out and bans them. Big deal, all they have to do is sign up for another membership, in their brother’s or girlfriend’s or kid’s name or whatever and they are back in business. If 10club has limited resources I am not sure I want them spending all this time and effort trying to stop something like this. A 10club fraud prevention division is a waste of their time and our money.

Your right, they probably won't. But when people keep talking about how 10club should investigate these ebay listings, the staff probably does take time to do it. And since the 10club staff is getting paid, they are in a sense spending money. Since I think there is no way to stop it (not to mention it is probably a tiny percentage of 10club tickets being sold this way) I would much rather 10club spend their money in more productive ways, like maybe developing better online ticket selling, or designing new tshirts.
