Oh yeah.....

Basically if you are a man (or a woman), love your sport and love a fight, watch these... This is the most intense version of a sport I have seen (and I am a sports lover of many)...

What, the sport? the fighting? the contact?

I guess it is all dependent on the sports you grow up with. I can't get a handle on NFL, but a lot of other sports that aren't big in Australia I like... ATM, I am watching Bulls vs Heat...

THere is something really good about state of Origin. It is New South Wales (where I'm from) Vs Queensland. They take the best players from the teams in the NRL (our competition) and they play for their state. It is so intense and one of the best sporting events.

It is often littered with big fights and big tackles and spectacular tries... (like a touchdown) this is worth a watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPcGF9iAtoE

Russell Crowe has helped broker a television deal to beam the rugby league State of Origin Series live to 40 million viewers in the United States.

American sports giant FOX Sports will televise all three clashes between New South Wales and Queensland, starting with Wednesday's opener at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, as well as the NRL grand final.

The announcement follows a broadcast deal struck with the assistance of Hollywood actor Crowe, the co-owner of South Sydney, between the NRL and head of FOX Sports David Hill.

The deals sees the United States join the UK, Pacific Islands, Canada, north Africa and the Middle East, central and southern Africa and parts of Asia in broadcasting the Origin Series live.

"This new United States agreement significantly adds to the mainstream exposure of two of our biggest events," NRL chief executive David Gallop said.
"It sees more than 40 million homes across the United States now able to experience live the passion and rivalry of the 2011 Harvey Norman State of Origin Series and the Telstra Premiership Grand Final."

Why is NSW sponsored by a VICTORIAN beer? :P

Great game, I watched it whilst watching episodes of Cops and Sons of Anarchy.
Where were Greg Inglis and Jarryd Hayne?
Injured? Not selected? On bench and I didn't see them as I was channel surfing?

I may have to start watching this...it's like football rolled around in the hay with hockey and UFC got into it as well.

I do like live hockey...watching the fighting that goes on.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and posit that those two teams have a lot of bad blood between them no?

I'm checking the broadcast schedules here and seeing if it's broadcast on regular cable like Sports Net or TSN as I don't subscribe to Setanta Canada.

You're right... It is a 3 game series where they take players from our competition and represent the state they first played football in. So it is New South Wales Vs Queensland. Queensland have dominated in recent times as they have had some of the best players in the world, and they have managed to stick together over this period. I just hope NSW can get off the canvas and win...

Nearly every match, there is a fight and some huge hits... it is great to watch.

And thoughts, Inglis is injured with a bad hip and Hayne wasn't selected. They had Josh Dugan at Fullback and Akuile Uate on the wing. He was awesome...

Refs didn't help at all... Fuckers... haha (always got them to blame)

    Great match...

Another thing is, it is billed as State against State, Mate against mate as there are often team mates from club sides playing against each other....

In the video above where it was just a mass brawl where they were fighting each other, two guys one from NSW and one from QLD were team mates for the North Sydney bears... They came to each other as if 'oh so we have to fight each other' but then they decided not to because they were brother-in-laws so they found someone else...

In the video above there are two guys from the same club side going toe to toe

Have you not seen season one yet? We are 3 seasons behind. it's a good show. I'm looking forward to breaking bad season 4 starting in a couple weeks. Not sure when season 4 of sons of anarchy starts but it should be interesting with how they left it at the end of season 3.

Terrible game... I have been chewing on sour grapes all night...

    Where it was lost:

    plenty of areas but

    - That kick from Ennis on the 3rd tackle right down slaters throat
-The penalty NSW gave away when qld were struggling, they scored a try that lead to 12-0
-The referees were a joke tbh... QLD were lying in the play the ball all night and no penalty
-Lockyer was tackled around the hip on his tackle not the legs imo
-Gidley was good running out of dummy half but lack the direction Ennis would have given
    - Pearce kick out on the full
-Gasnier has hardly done anything in 3 games
-Why play Galloway if your're not going to use him

    QLD where was it won?

    -A far superior kicking game
    -Qld spirit
    -Darren Lockyer
    -Cameron SMith
    -Darren Lockyer

    REfs were shit...

    Sour grapes? you betcha

Bad luck to Thurston, that replay was just ouch.
His converting was magic and his kicking.
However he fumbled a few times, he was kind of off tonight with the hands.

AS much as I was glad that he was off, you never like to see someone with a serious injury like that. Cowboys can virtually kiss their season goodbye now. He was in great form and now cowboys will struggle.

And I also worry for Ennis, he was coughing up blood and never came back on. Bulldogs can kiss any tilt at the 8 they have if he is out long term..

I am dirty... If I wasn't at home, I would have broken something...

And Minichello nowhere near as effective tonight...
