    I agree - that story gave me goosebumps! Little things like that elevate this band even farther above and beyond all the others out there . . .

    My respect for this band went up even more after reading that. I actually have a problem as well. 2 open heart surgeries and 2 cathiderizations, I've been through alot, but not as much as her it seems. Hearing her have her wish com true was really awesome.

    I'm surprised how Katie didn't write about how Eddie slapped her ass in the letter lol. Not to ruin a good story but I still find that creepy :).

    I'm trying to find a way to get in touch with her. My 9 year old son has the same Heart Defect and has endured the 3 open heart surgeries (all before the age of 2) as well as numerous catheterizations and hospitalizations!! I would love to meet this young lady :) I have read her story in DEEP over and over and just can't get enough of the smile on her face in those pictures! CHEERS TO KATIE!!


    a little side note: when my son was having his 3rd open heart surgery I was urged to contact MAKE-A-WISH because of his diagnosis (HYPO PLASTIC LEFT HEART SYNDROME) to grant a wish for him. I never did it..........I had this weird feeling that if I did that I would be admitting defeat in my son's illness and somehow, that would make his open heart surgeries a failure.
    Seeing Katie get this WISH Granted to her has given me an amazing feeling and I'm so glad she got her wish, an awesome wish it was and Kudos to PEARL JAM for giving it to her :D

    the coolest thing about that story in deep is that it now all makes sense for those of us at the show that didn't know who she was, or if pulling her on stage was random. it was a touching story to read in deep. PJ is the best!

    I cried reading that. She is an angel! :)

    I was there in Hartford that night to experience that moment. One of the best day's of my life! :)

    In the latest issue of DEEP, katie's story is on the first pages of the mag.
    She's a 14 year old girl that has a heart defect requiring 3 major corrective open heart surgeries. She was granted a wish by the MAKE A WISH foundation. Her wish was to go to a Pearl Jam show. Eddie and the boys made it an incredible night for her :)

    I also was very touched by that. For whatever reason that was the only thing I read completely through when I got it. Skimmed the rest. Been a long week.

    Finally got that "One for the Thumb"!!! Got the "Six Pack". Now we're on a "Stairway to Seven"
