I think it would be cool, if they opened up for PJ. I like them alot, and August And Everything After is a GREAT cd, is it not? I also think they were one of the better 90's bands. I didn't get a chance to listen to their newest album.

Perfect Blue Buildings has to be my fav song from them.

  • The only thing that impresses me about the Counting Crows is the lead singer somehow dated both Jennifer Aniston and Courtney Cox from friends.

I'm for it. Just add "live" and collective soul. The triple play tour was a great tour two years ago.

Crows are not very good live. I have seen them twice. once by choice and once by association. Neither time were any good. Duritz takes a lot of artistic privileges with the songs and they just do not come off right. He is also a jerk. New album has a couple good songs though.

This thread would be much better if it were the black crows.

  • A great opening band would have been The Gits! Been listening to them alot lately, fabulous music.

  • Counting Crows are one of my favourite bands.. I'm a massive fan of every album they've put out, bar none.

I hear a lot of shit spoken about them and most of it is down to the fact that they've occasionally written 'pop' songs (and we PJ fans are oh-so-sophisticated.. pop is so beneath us, or should I say 'pap', meh he he heh).

The rest of the criticism is based on Adam Duritz himself, and totally avoids the fact they make music. 'He's got fake dreds so he's a douche.' Clever that.

Make your own opinions. Don't follow the hype people.

Sorry, got a bit militant for a second there. ;) On topic, Counting Crows opening for PJ would further weaken my control of my bodily functions.

  • Counting Crows are the most boring band I have ever seen live and I find their music terribly dull. If you're going to be a miserable git then at least get angry and passionate about it! Bands like that just make me want to give them a big kick up the arse.

So, uh, every drug lobotomized musician who's every made a great record, even if was over 10years ago, should get the chance to open for PJ?
Oh at least Duritz would be preferable to Sleater Kinney I suppose.

Bring on Ringo Starr, he could play the ghost of Yasser Arafat.

I love the Crows, but it's an odd combo. I think I wouldn't be satisfied with just an opening set. Saw them years ago on a bill with The Wallflowers and 311. Wish they would tour by themselves and not have outrageous ticket prices. I'll always regret missing their $10 show at the Tower (move from the TLA) back in'93/'94. Must've been something.

i agree, duritz write amazing lyrics and i for one think they are very good live. Looking forward to seeing them again in december
  • I don't know if it would be good for them to open, but the Crows are pretty good. I've enjoyed the four shows I've gone to. This past summer was the only one I was disappointed in, and it was because they only played for about an hour or so. Some other band took the stage after that, and I kinda tuned out. I think it was Maroon Five or something. There were quite a few hot chicks there, though. Too bad I was with my wife, I guess.

  • I used to really like Counting Crows, got the chance to see them live (twice) this summer and they were easily the worst band I have ever seen live. I was fairly disappointed.

didn't Ed talk some shit on the Counting Crows back in the day? pretty sure he did somewhere.... doubt it would ever happen, but then again Ed has mellowed out in his older years.
  • I love counting crows, seeing them open for PJ would be a big old dream for me, and I remember reading one time that Adam Duritz is a PJ fan.

    He is also a jerk.

Explain why he's a jerk. I saw them in August and they were amazing, though some people there didn't "get" it. I overheard someone saying Duritz was drunk so he messed up Round Here, when it was really that they were doing an extended version of it.

Also, in Rolling Stone in like 1993 they had a feature on CC and I believe there was a complimentary quote in there from Ed.
