  • why?
PJ doing covers is always cool.

Though as much as i like C. Mary,
i'm getting a little tired of it.

They could mix up the covers just a "smidge" more.
If I was to smile and I held out my hand
If I opened it now would you not understand?
  • just a little smidge... but it is still cool hearing cm.. especially if you are in teh first two rows.... not so just when the drunk next to you chugs all of eds wine.

How about more than a smidge. I have seen them play it six times....and I have only seen them eight times. The only times I didnt see it was the second show in the same city.

i was trying to be nice.
i deleted the line i had written about
"smidge, as in they could drop Mary and RITFW from the set for a tour or three" ... but then the guilt of realizing I rock out ot RITFW everytime made me feel bad.

  • they play it because it was a big hit for them back in the day

At least that line would've been accurate! I enjoy both of them live, even though when I hear the opening notes of both I let out a one person collective groan...

Yeah, but they only started playing it sporadically in 2000, and since 2003 it's been kinda overdone.

actually when you look at it, they don't play it as often as people seem to think they do. may be just the fact that you're overlistening to it or you got all the boots with it on there.

they played it a LOT in 03, yet it seems to be that recently people get sick of it....

like i said, may be overlistening. it happens. i cannot hear evenflow or jeremy on a bootleg anymore. i always skip it.

I do enjoy Crazy Mary but I often feel that it's played only to showcase what Boom can do on the keys... it's his vehicle and he drives it well but it did get overplayed in 03.

Yeah, it get's played often, but I'm appreciating it more and more lately since McCready and Boom go fucking nuts during this song with solos! I'd rather they cut down on RITFW or dare I say it, even Ledbetter. As good as McCready is in Ledbetter too, I'd rather see a unique closer instead of Ledbetter, Baba, or RITFW. But, you can say this about all of those songs and CM, they are all "feel good" songs, and I can imagine the boys throw 'em in for the hell of it on a good night.

It's not overlistening. It was played as much in '06 as it was in '03. And in the few shows they played in '04...it was there frequently. And in '05....it was played a lot. And a lot in 2000. It really is played a lot. They've played it over 100 times...mostly since 2000. It's overplayed, not overlistened.

It was a big hit, certainly in boston ( i cant speak for the rest of the country although reading the meassage boards i get the feeling boston stations play a lot more pj than in other areas) any one from my H.S. would know that song (91-95)

question to other areas :: was IVE GOT ID played on your radio stations (IN BOSTON IT again WAS ANOTHER HIT) ...TAKE RIGHT NOW, for example, BCN IS HAVING SOME ROCK AND ROLL MARCH MADNESS NONSENSE AND PJ ARE GONNA WIN (THEY WIN EVERY YEAR)

  • ALRIGHT ALRIGHT, BIG HIT i dont know, what the hell is a big hit?? maybe i was overdoing it a little, it wasnt fucking wonderwall or oops i did it again, however it was quite popular , and i truly , if given the scenario where it meant life or death (of myself) as to wheter someone from that period (im talking c.92) heard "take a bottle drink it down" could finish that verse , i would bet my life they could , because it was popular ( i know this was ages ago and im a fucking old fart now but my memory hasnt gone yet!!!)
