I have dealt with these same people before (well not said same people, but the version of them in Houston).

What they are doing is FUCKING BULLSHIT. People should not be supporting them in any way shape or form. This is the same thing is scalping in my opinion. The face price on these tickets is the same as what's on all the other tickets, however all of this is legal due to the fact that they're throwing in VIP amenities. If you think about it, what is this telling you? Could it be that all of the best seats in the house never actually go on sale because Live Nation holds onto them to scalp them for double or triple their face value? If this was a guy in front of Alpine yelling "tickets" or some fucker on craigslist offering to meet up before the show or stubhub/ebay you'd all be yelling bloody murder... but because it's Live Nation it's ok?? This is not ok people. This is the reason why the common man, who's only willing to pay face value for tickets will never get to be close to any band they really want to see without paying vastly above face value.

I'm kind of shocked that Pearl Jam, the fan that supposedly gives back to their fans and supports tickets for the masses is allowing Live Nation to do this. Cause it's bullshit. Your giving Live Nation the power to scalp tickets that should go on sale to the public.

Ok, I'm done, continue on being happy with your front row center tickets. :)

and long as people pay..they will do this..can't say i blame them

sucks for the common man,but the ticket industry is a billion dollar industry for a reason
i post on the board of a band that doesn't exsist anymore .......i need my head examined.......

Well, that's it. They're throwing in amenities. Parking, a buffet, private bathrooms, private entrance/exit, a tent, etc. Some of that stuff you can easily put a hard value on, some you can't. It isn't scalping, though, if you're legitimately getting a bunch of extra perks for the extra cost.

I understand the counter arguement, that doesn't mean I have to agree with it.

For example here in Houston VIP amenities include "free" valet parking (that you still have to tip) and access to a VIP only bar (which is exactly the same price as all the other bars in the venue). And apparently that means that they can charge 2.5 times the face value of an average ticket (and if they know a show is going to be really big they can withhold up to 3/4 of the tickets at some of the smaller venues).

I understand that it sounds like they're offering a little more with this package, but I still think that these tickets should be put on public sale like every other ticket. The whole practice of not releasing the tickets is just not a legitimate, ethical practice to me, no matter how you want to slice it.
Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.

I've read through this thread a couple of times and am still somewhat confused, could Sawyer or someone who's talked to LN clarify. It seems that Sawyer's bought season tickets to Alpine, am I unserderstanding it correctly that you couldn't just buy PJ20, you had to get Buffett too? Does that mean it's really $600pp for both nights of PJ 20 ($1800) plus the buffetts? Do they not just sell box tickets in pairs to PJ?

I'll call them tmorrow, but any clarification would be great! Goon on you for getting those, I've been looking forward to this for a long time, but $600 per person for both nights may be too rich for my blood considering I need to come from Vancouver.

Ok. I think this is asinine. I have the money and could call up right now and get the same tickets, but I won't. Why? Because I will win the lottery and be in the 1st row looking back at the fools who spent $300 per ticket to be staring at my ass :o:lol:

If you have bought "season tickets" does that mean you will also be on the hook for any additional shows they announce? Jimmy Buffett and 2 PJ dates cannot be the only shows at Alpine all summer.

    How I spent my $900 (actually $934):

$55 – Chris Cornell solo show at the Pabst Theater 4/23 - ended up in the pit through fan club early admission
$215 – 3 day pass for Lollapalooza (Foo Fighters, A Perfect Circle, Muse, and 70 other acts….whoo-hoo)
$250 – 3 nights at a hotel across the street from Lolla
$80 – Eddie solo at the Chicago Theater 6/28
    $334 – PJ20

Just sayin…. Will I enjoy the shows just as much from some not so awesome seats and from the lawn with my fellow 10C members? Absolutely!
    Be kind whenever possible.
    It is always possible.

I think it was in poor taste for the original poster of this thread to brag about their inflated ticket success.
Can you not "go gentle into that goodnight" with a smile on your face?
Why must you wave your flag...(under 30 are you?)

Live Nation has supplied season tickets for all of it's venues for many years.

I really don't like that LiveNation can do this, but I don't blame concert goers..
If someone has a lot of money, I see no problem if someone wants to buy VIP tickets...
At the moment, I will not buy VIP tickets...
I'm hoping for a good Monday...

Won't happen! If you get first row it will be to the far left or right. All the seats in the middle sections are season/vip tickets all the way from the front to the back. Ten club will get all the seats in the left and right sections. Oh and he will be sitting 6th row both nights while one of the nights you will be in the lawn staring at his ass from a distance!
