What are they? They certainly are not grunge anymore..

    Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

    ... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.

    you cant define pearl jam as one style, coz it changes song to song. some are alt rock, some are plain rock, some are punk alt punk

    but you can safely say they are rock. grunge isn't really a genre you can define musically, but rather a genre you can define by where the band came from and its era.....alice in chains, nirvana and pearl jam all played completely different music but were all labelled 'grunge'

    Good question. Honestly, to me they are an all out american rock band, they are todays rolling stones or led zep. Considering the music today, they are the LAST real rock band left...sure we still got tool, RHCP, green day,radiohead...but seriously, PEARL JAM is the closest thing left to real classic rock, nuff said.
