I got lambasted last time I answered this question, but honestly, I'd rather see Ed solo right now.
Not because I think he is better than PJ as a whole...but just because I've never seen him solo before, and doing so would be a completely different experience than seeing the entire band.
That being said, I'd rather see BOTH this year -- a couple Eddie solo shows (LA1/LA2) followed by five or six PJ shows when they tour California. Yeeah!

yup...exactly. i've seen pj 26 times, and this just seems fresh and exciting to me and exactly the right time to do this. i'm going to both berkley shows, and i'm hoping for east coast pj. it'll make up for not seeing them at all in 2007.
See, me on the other hand, I've only seen em 4 times. I need 10 or 15 more times of PJ live before I can consider passing them up, even if its for Ed Ved.

... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.

both, but since I had to chose, I opted for PJ.. because there'll be more of my friends for that so the touring will be more fun.
Would LOVE to be in Vancouver for that reason, but going that far for a couple of shows is not an option right now (except for the Gorge, I'll do it for that!)
Plus I'm still hoping Ed might do some shows in Europe sometime down the line (late in the year maybe?)
It worked in Chicago - he had a few special songs for the city. The setting was more intimate and in his hometown crowd. I loved it, but I think it was special because it was rare. If I saw 5+ solo shows it wouldn't be as amazing.
