These guys were great. Most people only know of them because of the movie High Fidelity, which is an awesome movie. Everybody should listen to the Three Ep's on a rainy day. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=84bCWay7k3E

Awesome band live, I saw them twice in their hay-day. The 3 EPS is in my opinion the best place to start, also if you can get hold of the To You Alone/Sequinsize single it's amazing.

I fuckin love the Beta Band.

I just picked up the new solo release from the lead singer -- MONKEY MINDS IN THE DEVIL'S TIME.

It pretty good so far. His voice is incredible. A bit too much weird talking between songs though. I think he's going for some Pink Floyd effect or something.

Did you know about them before that show? How were they live? I always imagined they were more of a studio band.

I miss them. One of my favorites. I was lucky to have seen them 3 times. The highlight of my RSD (though I didn't get them for another week) was getting the 3 EPs they repressed for RSD. As great as their 3 LPs were, they never really topped the 3 EPs.

Cool. Do you live in England?
I was just wondering if Steve Mason still does any live shows and if he draws a crowd.

Yeah, 3 LPs is amazing. I really liked their last album too.

I remember them being good, but I had never heard of them before that show. I never got any of their studio work because that was before the internet made it easy to find bands like that. I may have to check them out again.

Overall, it was a hell of a night. :D

    No. In Chicago.

I saw them when they came through with Radiohead in 2001 and then twice after on their own.
