UFC is one of my guilty pleasures and as I was watching The Ultimate Fighter reality show last night I noticed Dana White (President of UFC) had a Pearl Jam Rearviewmirror shirt on. Thought that was pretty cool.

Edit: I guess it has been a long long time since I've posted anything on the PJ message board. I suppose it auto-logged me in using my 10C username when I posted this message. Does anyone know how I can either change my username or get my old username I used to post with on the old boards associated with my account?

Yeah - I saw that as well! Pretty cool. Even though I think Dana White can be a bit of a dick he does like both my idols - Pearl Jam and Bruce Lee.

Speaking of which, IF you were a UFC fighter, what Pearl Jam song would you have to enter the octagon??

For me only 1 logical choice: ANIMAL

Why is UFC your guilty pleasure? Mixed martial arts is an amazing sport (my favorite actually). With the rules and regulations set the past decade, people should not be ashamed of watching. Plus, almost all the fighters show a ton of respect to each other.

I like the Pride FC rules better......no more of this UFC wussy shit of putting a knee on the ground so you wont get kicked/kneed in the head, but they allow elbows to the face on the ground? - thats just ridiculous - so wrestler biased...

Oh, I completely agree with you, but it and its fans still have a stigma that the majority of the general public share. I'm not ashamed, but I'm pretty much the only one in my social circle who enjoys it so I kinda keep it low key.

Completely agree. I think its an amazing sport to watch- the strength, stamina, the will to even attempt to compete is outrageous.

I see. I was the only one of my friends to watch it and I was regularly made fun of for either "liking to watch guys in their underwear roll around on each other" or for liking a brutal sport that has no rules. For the last couple of years I have shown a lot of people how it is a real sport and why it is entertaining. I have changed the views of a lot of my friends.

Funny story....my friend recently got a job with Dan Henderson's Clinch Gear. They came to my town for a MMA fight and we all got to hang out with Dan's crew and Fight magazine. I was introduced to 1 of his trainers who said we might have something in common. He lifted his shirt sleeve and there was "given to fly" tattoed on his arm!! We talked about Pearl Jam all night! I was great!!!

Are you suggesting PJ paid Dana White to wear one of their shirts? I guess anything is possible nowadays, but I'd still be surprised...

They didn't pay Dana White to wear a t-shirt.
You actually said the reason why he was wearing the shirt yourself in your post. The demographic of Pearl Jam is males 18 to 45. Dana White is a 42 year old white male.

I remember an interview with Dana White from around 2006 and the subject of music taste and movies came up. He mentioned Pearl Jam, thats why I rolled my eyes because I heard it out of his mouth around 2006 or so. But go with your theory if you like I don't care, I know what he said. Didn't mean anything by the eye roll, it was instinct. The UFC is kinda weak anyway so it's hardly a big deal to me that he wore a PJ shirt.

So if he likes a band, he cannot get paid by them to wear their shirt? He did say he likes Pearl Jam, and it has been reported that he gets paid to wear t-shirts. Whether PJ actually paid him is up in the air, but it is a possibility. The mere fact that he is a fan of the band does not mean he did not get paid.

Also, how is the UFC "weak"? It is the biggest MMA franchise in the world as millions watch it and they are making tons of money.
