gas prices are only gonna go up!! ... with some refineries under flood - it's gonna go up quickly ... it may come back down some but all in all ... it's only going up! ...

when you base your economy on an unsustainable foundation - this is the result ... the rest of the world has been paying US gas prices for a decade now ...

Gas prices are based on several factors... international on-goings and stability, but just as equally important is markets and projection. And sadly, the market and projection isn't based on supply and demand cause the price would simply continually rise over time due to "peak oil" and the world's use of oil. It's bought and sold like a commodity in which it's mostly speculation and gouging compared to a fixed factor, reason or influence. In the winter time, gas prices go up for heating; in the summer time, gas prices go up for travel; and any time there's some international instability or issue in an oil producing nation or area, the price can rise. So in sum, the game is rigged and blaming a political party about the price of oil is ridiculous naive and misinformed. And for those of you who believe we can drill for oil in new areas and it blame a political party for sitting on their hands for not doing so to assist in the problem, our oil consumption is so great, it's a mere band-aid to the problem of our oil dependency.

If the government becomes a law-breaker, it breeds contempt for law; it invites every man to become a law unto himself; it invites anarchy. - Louis Brandeis

under Bush, the high gas prices were his fault...
“Drivers are paying a heavy price because of geroge bush’s lack of a comprehensive energy policy”

“Under this democratic leadership we will be working to make up for years of inadequacy”

    --Nancy Pelosi

Obama talking about gas prices during the campaign…“I understand how desperate people are…I know how bad people are hurting?”

Gas was $1.87 on average when obama took office

Now the average is around $3.90 I believe

I loved the last part…where the woman was saying high gas prices are good because 1100 people will be less likely to die in a car accident…priceless…

Ultimately the President doesn't have a whole lot of power over gas prices, what they do have power over...and the government as a whole is the value of a dollar

Another big factor in rising gas prices, and the reason why prices were kept somewhat reasonable for so long, is that oil prices are based on the dollar. As we devalue our money, oil prices naturally have to go up as well because the dollar is worth less now. So that is indeed a part of it. Speculators and traders are also a part of it.

umm...so we are supposed to give the Fed credit for helping to lower the price of oil AFTER THEY DROVE IT UP with weak dollar policies? I don't understand it...

There is an upside to people driving less, and fewer deaths would be one of them.
