Golden Corral

Anybody ever been to one of these? They play these commercials all the time on ESPN yet I've never seen one. They say there's all this food for "around 10 bucks". What does that mean? 12 bucks? 18 bucks? It looks awesome in the commercial but it's gotta be subpar in real life.

Gross. Think Applebee's, but it's a buffet and its worse.

you need to train for it if you're going for the first time ... it's not like you would show up for the boston marathon based on running to the mailbox to intercept your monthly subscription of home and garden you don't want anyone to see ...

you have to get your body to digest at most 18% plant or animal based products ... i would start at five guys and make your way to taco bell ... if you can survive taco bell without having to make your own runway to a border - you should be good to start at the "salad" bar ...

I love the salad bar at Golden Corral--where I live they are all over the place. Like any other franchise, the cleanliness, etc., depends on the actual spot, but overall it's good, and cheap. Not the healthiest food in the world, but it's okay on occasion. I'm a vegetarian so I mainly eat the salad bar, which is decent.

I went there for the first time in many moons last week ... many more moons shall pass before I return again.

The "endless baby back ribs" ended after I took my first bite of chewy fat. There are lots of choices, but the quality of everything hovers around 4-6 on a scale from 1 to 10.

I looked them up and they have a ton of restaurants in the south and are expanding throughout the Midwest.

I go there every couple months or so. I think the food is actually really good. My problem is that it really doesn't take too much to fill me up, so I end up getting a salad then a plate of whatever, then dessert. I just don't feel like I get my money's worth out of going there. But damn is their meatloaf good.

So what is "around 10 bucks" exactly?

Is it like "My analog 10c membership costs around 10 bucks".

I went to Golden Corral once when I was on vacation in South Carolina. Near me we have the Old Country Buffet.

I will never eat or set foot inside either if these ever again - see polaris' post

I think the one we go to is actually $9.99 but then it's another $1.50 or so for your drink. When I go it's me, my wife, and 2 kids and our total is usually just under $40 because kids prices are a little bit cheaper.

I'm glad the casino has an excellent buffet. Never been to GC...never will, thanks for the reviews people!.

It's not like the membership. :D I haven't been for a couple months, but last time my bf and I went it was about $26 I think (that's 2 buffets and 2 drinks).

It's not that bad. :) But, if I had a casino option, I would definitely take that route.

 Yeah. I don't eat fast food. Haven't in years. All those fast food places look awesome in the commercials.

Hey Fenway, remember Hometown Buffet that used to be up on 114 in Danvers? GC is pretty much like that. I think the Hometown Buffet might have been a step up. It is cheap eats either way you look at it. I used to eat there when I lived in Florida. $11 and you could eat until you got up and left.

Yeah, that Hometown Buffet wasn't that bad. I could go for that right now.

Mcam is right too, buffet at Foxwoods is real good.

  • They are actually really good. I'm sorry to say that I know someone that used to work there who confirmed that most of the stuff they use is pretty good quality. At least the one in my town. It's my mom's favorite place so I take her there from time to time.
