    why?

Stone likes hip hop, Stone and jeff have played in the past with Cypress, and I read at a festival around the mid 90s they were hanging with KRS a lot back stage. KRS is not a thug rapper or an idiot and knows more about world issues than all of PJ combined, I'm sure him and Eddie could cook up something really potent.

At the least itwould be cool to see WMA jam into Sound of the Police.

I should have prefaced that I don't consider myself a hip hop/rap fan really, but there are a handful of artists so awesome I can bend the rules once in a while ;)

Glad to see some support. Probably a long shot, Cypress would be more realistic. I would love to have been a fly on the wall when KRS was hanging with the Jam... gonna try and dig up the article!

fixed. But I know nothing about KRS-One, so I won't be so glib as to say s/he/they shouldn't play PJ20. It might be the best mash-up of music since Run DMC and Aerosmith!

Did you forget, "We cheered when 9/11 happened in New York and we say that proudly ..."; or that he wrote a 'Hip-Hop Bible' that he swears will be the predominant religion on Earth in 100 years?! The guy's a nut job.

I hadn't heard that either. I'm surprised considering all the work he has done for 9/11 first responders.

I grew-up a hip-hop fan in NY, myself. I always liked KRS - and certaintly get energized when hearing songs like 'The Bridge is Over'; but his views are just weird and uninformed sometimes. To be fair, he clarified that he wasn't cheering the loss of life; rather, a big hit to the corporate oppressors of the poor. I still think it's an inappropriate, selfish and unconscionable thing to say, under the circumstances.
  • gibbitsgibbits Posts: 512
Yeah I'm shocked. When KRS preaches about the NWO and corporations its the truth, but he shouldn't have firmly stuck his foot in his mouth like that. After reading about it I can see where he was coming from but the words he chose were completely wrong.

i do like krs and he does spit wisdom, but sometimes he's a little too corny/preachy...and nuts

granted rappers such as jay, nas, wu-tang clan, etc, etc.. sometimes combine the floss and thugness in their raps, but overall they are much better in my mind. they spit just as much knowledge as well.
