I meant the pre-sale, sorry. I bet he adds more southern dates and probably ACL.

Got this email last week. Also heard some rumors of an Apple in store performance next week as well.

Ben is playing the Live on Letterman webcast series next Wednesday, May 18 at 8:00pm ET.

The first 50 fans to reply to this e-mail will get one (1) pair of tickets to the hour-long performance!

If you are one of the first 50, you will be contacted by Monday, May 16 8pm ET
with ticket pickup instructions. Concert tapes at Ed Sullivan Theatre.

If you are not contacted, that means you'll watch it live on the web at:

Just saw his benefit show at the Mint here in LA on Monday. Amazing. In addition to his band, he played with Joan Osborne, Jackson Browne, Tom Morello, and a really talented young bassist named Tal Wickenfeld.

Which band did he have with him...innocent criminals or relentless 7?

Was at the Terminal 5 show. Unbelievable! I don't really know his stuff but I figured I'd check him out since Ed loves him so much. Wow! I'm now a fan.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! When I first saw Ben, I didn't know any of his stuff either, but I became an instant fan and I've been listening to him ever since...that was back in '96 when he opened for Pearl Jam ;)
Now that you're a fan, if you're looking for some music to get..I would recommend his Live from Mars cd. It's an older 2-disc set, but it has some great live stuff on it! :D

Thanks, I will definitely check it out! Geez, I could have been a fan since 96? I think I might have still been in my Bon Jovi phase then. I'm so behind, as always but better late than never! :D

Ben Harper was outstanding at the House Of Blues in Boston on Friday. I think I have all of his albums by now, but this was my first time seeing him live. He certainly didn't disappoint, playing over two and a half hours. Relentless7 was a great backing band, and he played songs from throughout his entire career. He tagged "Jeremy" during his opening song, "Glory & Consequence," which was certainly a pleasant surprise. I was very happy that he played such a wide variety of material, and the band stretched out plenty of songs with impressive jams. He covered "Helpless," which was great, and "No Quarter," which probably featured the best guitar soloing of the night. Did anyone else make it to this show?

Here's the setlist, from his site.

    01Glory & Consequence
    02Number With No Name
    03Faded
    04Rock N' Roll Is Free
    05Diamonds On The Inside
    06Masterpiece
07She's Only Happy In The Sun
    08Suzie Blue
    09Lay There & Hate Me
    10Burn One Down
    11By My Side
    12Amen Omen
    13Where Could I Go
    14Mutt
    15Lifeline
    16Walk Away
    17Helpless
    18No Quarter
    19Better Than I Deserve

Kyle Crusham and Grace Woodroofe sat in on Neil Young's "Helpless." Crusham also played guitar on "No Quarter." "Glory & Consequence" included a verse and chorus from Pearl Jam's "Jeremy

Oh, oh I just remembered an AWESOME moment from the show. As always people are shouting out songs for him to sing. He was about to start a song when all of a sudden someone yells really loud, "PLAY SEXUAL HEALING". I thought Ben was going to get upset that someone was ruining his groove (I might have been!) but instead he pauses and goes, "Everything we do up here is sexual healing":lol::lol:

Here's one of my favourite pics from the Terminal 5 show. This was from when he went mic-less. Amazing.

Too bad the girl directly in front of me kept whipping out her iPhone! She was so into it that I decided not to say anything. I just wish she had a real camera, I bet all that effort was for nothing since 99% of her videos and pics probably won't come out. Oh well!

Yeah! I have mixed feelings when singers do this but Ben did it perfectly. It was kinda awesome how much he was putting into it. I love when singers are invested in what they do.

Agreed. the micless part was unbelievable. I don't think everyone could pull that off, but Ben certainly did.
