but i thought we won the war on turr and everyone loved us again? your average ordinary american has gone on record in newspaper and tv interviews acting like we won. and, just because we know about these potential attacks does not mean we can 100% foil them. i am sure they had some sort of contingency plan in place in case we found out about them ahead of time.

On the other hand it is not like Al-Qaeda is a super advanced and organized terrorist group like COBRA from GI Joe. Most of the people they recruit are super undereducated and turn to extremism due to their lack of options. Which makes sense since I think it would be hard to find educated people who want to blow themselves up. The problem is when you have a group where the majority of them aren’t very smart, you can’t really waste your smart guys on suicide missions, which means attacks are carried out by guys who aren’t even able to light their underwear on fire, or a dude who thinks that some diesel fuel and some fireworks can blow up times square.

I'm pretty sure the US will do a mop up operation to eleminate as much of these dirt bags as possible, the US will never wipe out terrorism completely but they can send out a message "mess with us and die"

I'm no treehugger, but I feel that this mentality is what gets us into problems in the first place. Nobody has the right to kill US citizens but I feel like America has this "We can do whatever the fuck we want" attitude ALL the time. Sometimes a country, esp. the only superpower in the world needs to have that mentality in certain situations, but a big reason why other countries hate us is because we kill a lot of innocent civilians, granted on accident, but it happens. We flex our military muscle too often and we hurt innocent people in the process and it leaves a very deep scar with these people. Again, terrorism is and should not be tolerated, but drone attacks that kill tons of women and children pushes the limits on what our foreign friends can handle. John Kerry's stance on the afghan war was that it needs to be a more intelligence based war that doesn't rely on as much firepower as we put into it..but that's where the $$$ comes in isn't it...
