You had to get rid of all your books, How sad,

Your heart will grow tired of the electric reader thing, your hands will surely turn cold and hard without the touch of a book...we are at a loss here. Books lost to machines, and when we end up destroying most of this world with bombs..What good will the technology be? When we will not be able to charge these machines, we will have lost our information. As we have thrown our books away long ago.

This is the future, trade in your paper for metal, years ago it was said that one day the system will end up burning all books, but so it turns out, we are giving them up ourselves. All in favor of saving space, for our large fridges packed with too much food and our over sized TV screens...

    j/k

I love ebooks, they are so convenient. I honestly just search for book names online, and often times it links me to a file that automatically downloads the PDF.

It's not an ebook reader, rather my android cell phone, nonetheless it's downloading full books onto my phone in PDF. But of course that only works if your ebook can get online....

Because my entire work life and much of my free time involves books, it is difficult for me to not be biased in my reply here. But, that said: Once, several years ago, I fell on hard times and had to sell of many of my books. The ones I did keep are treasures (amonst the piles of books that surround me now!) So my advice is, no matter how small your living space, you might consider keeping a copy of at least a few of your favorite books. There is magic in a real book- not just the content, but the look, the feel, the smell of a good book- that you will never find in a machine.
“The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man [or woman] who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.”
Variously credited to Mark Twain or Edward Abbey.
