He dedicated it to the son of NBC Bureau chief Tim Russert who died unexpectedly the day prior....

There is no definate truth in this, at least not to my knowledge.
He did, however, dedicate it to LUKE who apparently just lost his father. Luke russert is the son of Tim russert so it does make sense.
but there was no clear mention of who in particular it was, it may have been somebody on the road crew.
I realized quickly they played it right at midnight, which made it fathers day right whent hey played it. so eddie definately knew what he was doing when he put it late in the set list.
very, very emotional and I'm not sure if he was crying or not, but you could see his sadness.
