U2 Shoot Video in Berlin

We should have known from The Edge's Tweet yesterday afternoon, that something was brewing in the band's old stomping grounds:

"Hansa ballroom ceiling Berlin. http://twitpic.com/4si8cv"

According to reports from German news outlets, the band were filmed walking across the Friedrichsbrücke pedestrian bridge, and Bono at some point drove a green Trabant from a nearby cathedral to Hansa studios.

Of course, Hansa is where the band recorded the legendary album Achtung Baby, so there is speculation that they may be shooting footage for an anniversary edition of the work.

None of the nearby fans heard music at what they were told was a video shoot, but band members did sign autographs afterward. Newspapers report that the video will be "released by the end of the year."

Neither can I. Maybe a bigger reissue than TJT one? Hopefully there's a vinyl with it.

Where are you seeing them? I'd love to go.

Philadelphia, Giants Stadium in NJ and Pittsburgh. I am sure you could get tickets easy, GA is best and cheapest, where are you from?

CT. Too bad they weren't coming to Foxboro again. I am thinking of doing Giants Stadium. How much is GA?

GA was about $55 face value. I see people offering them for sale now and again.

I saw them both nights at the old Giants Stadium in 2009 and it was amazing.

That's awesome. They're at the top of my "to see" list. I will eventually see them.

Definitely. I've seen the Slane Castle and Boston DVDs and those convinced me that I have to see them, especially for Streets alone.

They'll be returning to the States with their 360 tour, so you should catch 'em, cause this is their last leg.

I have been a fan since Unforgettable Fire and Joshua Tree, but seeing Slane DVD really made me a fan. I got that DVD for Christmas the year it came out and it blew me away. Made a promise to my oldest son that next time they came around we would go see them and we did, I took him to his first concert - U2 on the Vertigo tour when he was 10. I saw them about 6 times that tour. This tour, I am taking my youngest to his first U2 show, he is already a concert veteran though - this past year, we saw Linkin Park and Green Day (not same show) from the front rail in GA together.

I know...it's crazy. I can't believe I'm 20! I find it cool that I get to celebrate my 20th with some of my favorite albums that turn 20 this year: Achtung Baby, Ten, Nevermind, and Dangerous.

The DVD also blew me away. The crowd during "Out of Control" is insane! Bono knows how to get a crowd off. And then the segue from "All I Want Is You" into "Streets" in amazing. Like you said, the Slane DVD is also what really made me a fan.

Is it sad that I haven't seen the ZOO TV DVD?

+1. To me, it's a "perfect" album; not one bad song on it.

    July 14th at the Linc.

The Edge absolutely owns this album.

"The Fly" and "Until the End of the World" are quite possibly his best work.

"All I Want Is You" into "Streets" is one of the most amazing live moments, just sends chills. "Streets" has to be one of the greatest songs to hear live, and to be there live.

Not sad to have not seen Zoo TV. Plenty of time to check it out and enjoy. ZooTV-era U2 is awesome, so is the Pop-era U2. One of the great things about U2 is that they bring something almost completely different each album/tour. They were one of the pioneers of video screens at concerts. And the claw for the 360 tour might seem odd, but when you are there, you realize just how awesome it makes the show, the whole purpose being to try to reach the whole stadium and I think they have accomplished that.

Oh, and if you are interested in ZooTV live recordings, got to U2start.com and download the show from August 28, 1993 in Dublin. That is my favorite U2 bootleg and probably one of the best sounding bootlegs out there. Just a phenomenal show, better than the Sydney Show on the DVD.

U2start.com is a great website, they have just about every U2 bootleg available, I can thank them for making me need the 160 gig ipod.

haha, I just checked and they actually have a video download of that show!! I am not sure how that works but I will try it.

    Agreed.

I have the Pop Mart DVD and that is just great. U2 were innovators of the stadium show. That's why I love U2...not afraid to change. I definitely want to see a 360 show. I'll try for Giants Stadium.

It's not sad that you haven't seen the Zoo TV DVD yet, but you should correct that as soon as possible. ;)
I think the segue from "Running To Stand Still" into "Where The Streets Have No Name" is maybe the best live moment of U2 on video ever! Beats the one on the Slane DVD, if you ask me.

And yes, try to see them live. They'll be in North-America until the end of July (final concert, July 30th in Moncton, Canada). And who knows if/when they will return... So see them before it's too late.
