The song is defiantly about his newest love.

He told us a story about the song in Sydney that went something like. Me and my girl spent 5 weeks in Bondi. I didn't want to bring out a guitar because it was so big so I bought this little thing (uke). I wrote this song as we swam and sunned, its now been 11 years and two kids later that I'm going to bring this song home.

    Ahhh Ed.

Hey Glen, I hate to break it to you but he told that story before he sang another uke song called Without You .. not this song. I was at that show too (Sydney, 19th March) .. I remember it well and I have .. um .. proof. ;):)

Wasnt this song written during Ed's divorce days? I wonder how his current wife feels about being in a video for a song he wrote about his ex wife.... ;)

if i remember correctly, most of these songs were written after he met his current wife.

And that would partly explain *her* presence in the video too, I think.
When watching the video I had the impression it was definitely a homage to her and consequently to the love they share.

Beautifully filmed video, anyone know where it was shot?

And our little EV is showing a little gray in the beard. Makes me feel old since I've been following them since the early 90s. Got quite a bit of gray on the roof myself these days. :ugeek:

Yay I can finally watch the vid in Australia - thanks to whoever posted a version that's actually 'available in my region'. I don't feel so behind the times now....

Simply stunning...this one brings a little tear to my eye

Beautiful video for a beautiful song. ...Although I do kind of giggle every time he's floating by on that stand-up paddle board. It just looks funny to me.

    This video is cheesy.

I can't understand how Clinch would'nt come up with something better.

    My god is it painful.

    Agreed.

The best part of the video are the wave shots.

a mellow, romantic song doesn't necessarily have to = a bland, cheesy video.

either create something interesting and inspired, or don't make a video at all
    was it?....

Same here. I laugh at floating bit, but I love it. Also, it reminds me of Down - Live at Garden, with Eddie on skateboard.

Kind of enjoyed the video in spite of myself. The shots of him standing up floating down the river with his uke..... hmmm.... - can't help thinking someone should post the video for 'Leash' at Pinkpop, just for a bit of juxtaposition

This is a remarkably personal look into his heart and love for his wife (then girlfriend when he wrote it I think???)

Not that Ed's songs haven't been dug out of his very being before....this one just seems to let us in more...especially with the wedding glimpses.

I love this song and the video...I love the idea that Eddie Vedder is dressed in a suit, playing a ukelele, and declaring love for someone in such a pure and gentle way....I've just been watching old PJ on Youtube so the difference right now is exceedingly dramatic.

He is able to cover all aspects of the musical spectrum...what talent! :D
