Anyone going to this? I live in PA but my one buddy lives outside SF and I was thinking of visiting him this summer. Would be pretty cool to see, trying to convince him to go though. Pretty good line-up with Muse, Arcade Fire, Black Keys, Arctic Monkeys and more

  • I can't get the time away or a flight, but if you have the chance you should definitely go. The line up I recognize is made of rock bands that keep all rock music from fading into popsicle pop rock.

Looks like a great line-up. Hope I get to go.

it was a well organized fest when I went in 09 for PJ. And SF is awesome so I'd go if you had the chance.

Not too many bands that I would want to see, but if I went:

Phish, Black Keys, Warren Haynes Band, and possibly The Roots

I'm down for Phish: Would be my 30th time or so seeing them.

Fogerty: Seen him once and it was great.

    Arcade Fire
    MGMT
    The Roots

and Warren Haynes: Seen him a couple times in different incarnations.

Aside from that I'm always up to be exposed to new music.

If you get the chance go!! It is a great festival- so much fun. Golden Gate Park is beautiful, as is SF. The festival is very well organized. And in classic SF style, the food, the wine, the beer and the weed are all the best of the best. Seriously. The best restaurants in the city have booths there.

And the music, of course, is amazing.

It is a few blocks from my house so I go every year.

We splurged for the travel package that inludes a room at the hotel nikko. Hoping it is cool in SF that weekend....the past few Coachellas were too hot for me to thrive for 3 days of music.

It usually doesn't get too hot in the park- its right by the ocean, so even if it is super hot, the breeze comes in. As does the fog. If anything, you will need a hoodie. And if it is like last year for a few hours, a scarf and a hat. Welcome to the micro-climates of SF. 8-)

I've been to 5 Coachellas and several Outside Lands fests ... they are two completely different experinces weatherwise.

Note for the SoCal'ers ... the cold in SF is a damp cold, so, it's best to overprepare / overdress ... believe me, there is almost no such thing as being "too hot" at Outside Lands.

layers? is it gonna be "cool" then? I do remember it was kinda chilly when I last visited in the end of July about 8 years ago. Maybe I'll bring a pair of jeans and my 10c hoodie ;)

So talking to my friend, he is willing to go. Not gonna do all 3 days though. Debating weather or not to do 1 or 2 days. Best day looks to be Sat. w/ The Black Keys, Arctic Monkeys, Muse, & The Roots so def. want to go then. Friday don't really care for with MGMT, The Shins and Phish. Sunday looks ok except the only bands i would be interested are the main ones with Arcade Fire, Decemberists and Deadmau5 (heard he was pretty damn good). 3 day tix are $199 while single ones are $85. any suggestions?

We are going. I am excited about the lack of scheduling conflicts.....no need to rush around too much!

Looking forward to The Meters, B.A.D, MGMT on Friday

    Arctic Monkeys, Vaccines on Saturday

Latryx, Arcade Fire, John Fogerty and Deadmau5 on Sunday.

Happy that it ends at 10pm each....Doesn't sound too exhausting or overly hipsterish!

I didn't notice too many conflicts either. I'm excited to kind of pop around and see a bunch of bands. Having already seen Arcade Fire 2x this year, the Black Keys, and Muse just recently at LA Rising among others, I don't need to see their full sets and I'm excited to see something new.
I've never seen Phish, Arctic Monkeys, or the Decemberists. It's been years since I've seen the Shins or the Roots. Want to check out Tune-Yards and some others. Looking forward to it!

Yes, sort of. She's only going Saturday and possibly Sunday as of now so the Friday portion of the ticket is still wide open.

So who all went? I only went Sat. which was enough for me. Got there around 3 ish before OK GO went onstage. Wanted to get there an hour earlier so i could see The Vaccines but oh well. OK GO was ok. Next three bands were the bands I really wanted to see. Arctic Monkeys. Black Keys and Muse. I saw the Monkeys a few months back so I pretty much knew what to except from them and I still thought they were cool. Only real problem I had was how did they not play Fake Tales of San Francisco? The Black Keys rocked with a mixture of songs from all their albums. And Muse closed the joint with another epic performance. Although they mainly played their "singles" it was still pretty sweet.

Heard Friday was kinda lame except Dave Chappelle was there for a few minutes. Big Boi was suppose to be there and never showed up.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXGxvyngwZ0

Sunday sounded sweet as well with Arcade Fire and Deadmau5 closing at the same time. I probably would have seen Arcade Fire set though.

Incredible lineup. Neil Young and Stevie Wonder are right up near the top of my bucket list to see and the rest is a bonus. If only RHCP didn't reschedule their Staples Center shows for the same weekend. Have amazing 1st row side stage tix that I'm strongly considering passing on now.

Maybe if I have the same luck that I had with OSL tix last year, that'll make it an easier choice. haha

Have fun whomever is going. Last year was cool, and this years line-up looks even better. Also you can watch some of it online. :)
