Just have to say that this is the greatest grocery store on the planet. And this is coming from someone who doesn't give two shits about grocery stores. The place is like Disneyland. That is all.

P.S. place was like a god when i went to school in syracuse.....now they're coming to mass. very excited about that.

It is spectacular. Unfortunately they only build them in the exurbs in SE PA. But my mom-in-law works there, so I guess I could ask her to pick up anything I wanted.

I've never been to Wegmans, but I remember Alec Baldwin talking about it, on Letterman.

Which led to him actually doing a commercial for Wegmans last holiday season:

  • Hah, it is the greatest store ever. I grew up right outside Rochester and my whole family worked at wegs. in our youth. I got fired but still love the store:) Miss it now that I'm not there. See you all in Hartford.

I worked at various Wegmans stores in Rochester from when I was 15 until 25 and really enjoyed it. When I went to grad school in Buffalo, I thought the Wegmans stores there were nowhere near as nice as the Rochester stores. Now I live in Pittsburgh and truly miss it. Giant Eagle and Whole Foods don't even hold a candle to any Wegmans store. They really focus on meal solutions and cooking, but not many other stores concentrate on this. I think the closest one to me is in Erie, PA and sometimes I think about making that drive.

    Don't forget Dinosaur BBQ.

I live in the Capital Region and we don't have Wegmans, I wish I knew why this is!!! I agree with the OP, It IS like the Disneyland of super markets.
  • Dinosaur rocks, too. They opened one in Troy for you capitol district people.

NIce, love the area. Went to school in Albany, love the area. Most of my friends are from that area. Dinosaur BBQ is good stuff.

No Wegmans in your hood, just Hannaford and that can't hold a candle to Wegmans.

There are a few near me (one just opened a few months back, but I haven't been to that one.) Nice big ass stores with great prices, but I just can't seem to do my grocery shopping there. Too many damn people  plus the closest ones are 10-15 minutes away. While there are other grocery stores withing minutes of where i live.
