Soundgarden or A Perfect Circle; a tough decision.

The girlfriend and I currently have two pretty great seats for A Perfect Circle at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on August 2nd. Less than a week after we purchased, we found out that Soundgarden will be playing there sometime in July.

We're considering switching plans, getting SG tickets and attempting to sell the APC tickets (something I don't think will be too difficult to do.)

Has anyone seen Soundgarden in their latest endeavor? How's the show?

  • give the girlfriend a nice present and go to both :D If u have to butter her up that is ;)
Always works for me (Im the girlfriend ;) )

Im seeing APC in Boston on July 12...now a rumored Soundgarden show for Mohegan Sun for July 6. Soundgarden prices are pretty f'in steep (70&90) but passing up a show that close to home is simply criminal!!! Plus...The Mars Volta as the opener. SOLD!!!! :D

But with the less than frequent touring of APC - no new album, and hopes of anything new from Maynard projects dwindling, as he's totally devoted to his wine...well... u dont want to miss APC either.

Go to both. Drink at home for a few weekends to save the dough...ignore those new video games coming out (you should probly stay off the PS3 for a lil while now anyways, since some hackers probably got your shit).

You're gonna kick yourself in the end for missing either.

    Good luck :D

and no, i havent seen Soundgarden recently...all the more reason to NOT MISS IT!!! :D

I thought there were rumors of a new Tool album in the works. No?

I saw soundgarden on the rail at Lolla..... Still smiling

Seen perfect circle 2 times, plus on Jimmy Kimmel last year. Always great

It's a tough one..... I'd do soundgarden. Especially after seeing Chris recently. Seems his voice is better as of late

It was just mentioned on Tool's site yesterday that they are indeed working on new material in the studio.

I'd choose A Perfect Cirlce over Soundgarden. APC doesn't tour that often, plus you know Soundgarden will probably do a full tour once they release their new album

My thoughts as well. I think we'll stick with APC, but it will hurt knowing that we missed Soundgarden. We've both been wanting to see that for years.

You guys/girls see why we would have any problem selling APC tickets if we decided to? I think they'd go pretty quick.

As much as we'd like to go to both, we really cannot afford it. At this point, it's one or the other. We don't make enough money to be able to travel to Denver twice in three weeks for concerts that both cost $120+ along with other expenses and on top of that having the PTO hours to take off work.

We're also both students... so, that's a little financially straining too.

I really wouldn't want to be you buddy! APC especially if you are getting the Mers Der Noms night but I love SG just as much as PJ and I'm too young to have seen them back in the day so I'd easily choose SG.

It is a crappy decision, that is for sure. I'm really torn on this as I love SG enormously, but both of us have been hoping to see APC together for years since it's one of a handful of bands that brought us together.

Also, I think APC is just playing a show and doesn't have an album particularly laid out for the setlist, but I could be wrong.

Look at it this way... at least u know u won't be attending PJ20 at this point...so u gotta make up for that somewhere, right?

And MMJ. Yah. Sounds like a weekend at Red Rocks if u ask me...

And...the APC shows that are coming up are not album based setlists... those shows already passed i believe. this is straight up random APC :D

Edit: I should probably add in that I am the most indecisive person you could ever know...so um...when it comes to choosing...im not very good at that...If i cant choose one, i choose both. always :D:lol:

Okay well in that case I wouldn't bother! They were playing each album each night as well as 1 or 2 covers when they were doing 2 nights at various cities.

Having seen APC back on their tour supportin Thirteenth Step, I will say that even if they aren't playing the album in it's entirety, they still put on an awesome show.

But, that was 7 years ago...

Soundgarden no question. I'll be there :), which just might take me out if PJ20 but after Lolla and Chris solo acoustic I know I'm making the right choice.

If you can swing both, I'd do it. I've seen APC a couple of times and they were great. Thought they were the best band on the bill at Lollapalooza in '03. You never know what Soundgarden's plans are going to be, especially with Matt going back and forth.
I had a similar dilemma in that I already had tickets for Cornell's acoustic solo show here in L.A. when Soundgarden was announced. I was too young at the time to see Soundgarden so I was going to sell the Cornell tickets (I had seen him solo with his band, when he toured "Carry On.")
After reading how great the acoustic shows were, I decided to go to both and can't wait for Cornell's show next week! Going to be an expensive summer concert season with Cornell, TV on the Radio, MMJ, two EV shows, Soundgarden, and hopefully *fingers crossed* a trip to PJ20. You only live once.

p.s. You never know IF you'll get the chance to see them again. I saw what ended up being Rage Against the Machine's last show before they broke up in 2000 and never thought I'd see them again. Luckily, I've seen a few shows since they've been back and that just reminded me of another summer show. L.A. Rising with RATM and Muse. Yikes.
