An announcement posted on TheWho.com says The Who has never played every single song in Tommy when performing the piece. While fans who saw The Who tour in support of the album during the late ‘60s or caught the band resurrecting the work during a 1989 tour might disagree, there may be at least one song that hasn’t been included in many live Tommy performances. That would be “Welcome,” a number for which Pete Townshend and Daltrey have expressed disdain for in the past and was purposely left out of the band’s ’89 setlist.
Now, after performing Tommy at the Royal Albert Hall during a benefit for Teenage Cancer Trust March 25, Daltrey and his band are taking the messianic pinball wizard on a road trip, playing U.K. venues throughout July. The tour begins in Alcester at Ragley Hall July 3 and includes Gateshead’s Sage July 4; Glasgow’s Clyde Auditorium July 6 and Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall July 7.
Other stops include Nottingham (July 9); Bristol (July 12); Hampshire (July 16); London (July 21); Norwich (July 22) and Exeter (July 24).
“Great to see Roger performing Tommy with his band in 2011,” Townshend said in a statement posted on TheWho.com. “I will be there in spirit and Roger has my complete and most loving support. Roger is touring his unique concert version of Tommy using his faithful presentation of the original work as the backbone for a set of wider material. It is wonderful to hear the way Roger and his new band reinterpret the old Who songs.”
Ticket sales begin April 29. Visit TheWho.com for more information.

Just wondering thanks. I mean All bands have lost hearing to some degree and are still playing can carry on conversations. That's why I've always wondered about Pete. Also, I am also aware of the fact that Moon blew off sticks of dynomite/ fire works in the drum kit and it was a direct hot to his ear drums.
poor guy. I do hope the who can go out at least one more time. seen them twice (with the current line up) and still an excellent show.

Indeed, he's playing about 6 miles away from me (Exeter) and I won't be going. The Who were so poor at Glastonbury, and his voice was non existent.

For those saying he didn't sound good in the past...Roger explained that he had throat surgery a few years back, so maybe that corrected the issues.
Tommy was terrific and it was great to hear him sing some who classics.
I have read reports that Roger and Pete plan to take Quadrophenia on the road next year...really hope they do.

I'll be going to hear Roger later this month.
Yeah, I was so excited they were playing the halftime show, but I really didn't know what to make of it. It sounded bad, Pete's tummy was hanging out half the time, and various other issues. It was so bad that it ended the 6 year trend of booking established Rock acts (that started after Janet Jackson) and going back to whatever trendy band was popular that day.
They were still better than Black-Eyed Peas, No Doubt, NSYNC, Britney Spears or whoever.
I wonder who has the majority of the song writing credits
I hope they do, Roger sounded really good...I saw the who on their 82 American tour, really wish I had seen them more and would have loved to see them with Moon.
If they don't tour quadrophenia hopefully Roger will tour in the future and I'll get to see him again.

Yeah I don't get to worked up either way with what bands do at the halftime show of the Super Bowl.

Actually it's kind of surprising more musicians don't have severe hearing problems...especially musicians from the 60's, 70's and 80's...I have noticed that the volume seems to be lower over the past decade at many concerts I've attended...bands are obviuosly aware of problems caused by loud music. At Roger last night you could hear people talking 5 rows back...he definitely has the volume lowered.

Yeah, Pete's always made more money than the rest of the band because of his songwriting but he's still said in interviews during the last couple of years that he just doesn't enjoy all the stuff that goes along with touring.
But with Pete, who knows what to believe? He says all kinds of crap, then completely contradicts himself in the next interview.
