so i came across an easter egg.. I was suggesting music to a friend and Bon Iver came up. So i went to youtube to send a video link and look what i found!
well that is good to hear - the sensational part. i'm unconcerned with the leak part. as with all records that i eagerly anticipate, i will wait until i have a physical copy.
how do most people come down on that issue? listen as early as possible, even if it's a leak, or wait until you've got the record, even if it means maybe quite a wait?
Some records I'll try to wait for, others I can't help it and end up doing a preliminary listen. If it's something I'm excited for I'll still buy the product.
It's unfortunate that it leaked the way it did, though. It was on iTunes as a preorder and I guess Apple accidentally put it up for sale that day so people were allowed to buy it and then spread it throughout the Internet. I don't understand why Apple needs these records so far in advance. "Preordering" an MP3 album doesn't make much sense to me, as it would "arrive" as soon as you buy it whenever it comes out anyway.
Didn't listen to this one yet, think I'm gonna wait. "Calgary" is fantastic.

interesting story, thanks for passing that along. i don't use itunes, so i wasn't aware about the mp3 presale thing. yeah, seems very strange - probably makes itunes more money to drum up interest in presales like that.
